TheBlog

Name & Blog Name: My name is Liz and I am the blogger behind Along for the Read!
Tell us a little about your blog! Along for the Read has a focus on YA book reviews, occasionally some other stuff, but I love YA so it shows.
What’s been your favorite post you’ve written so far? (Link us up!) Hmm that is tough.  I haven’t ventured much outside of reviews, though I would like to find something else that works for me.  I had fun writing my review of In Honor by Jessi Kirby, and I loved the book a lot.  I also quite enjoy looking through my post for a pick your own Top Ten Tuesday where I chose my favorite pictures from the Tumblr blog, Awesome People Reading.  Not a lot of writing but it is fun to look at.
Got anything special coming up we should know about?
There will be a giveaway coming up soon, most likely in September, of a signed YA novel, so check back on my blog then to catch that!  I’ve never done a giveaway, so I think it’s time I try one out!

TheBook

Whatcha reading? I am currently reading Golden by Jessi Kirby.
Where did it come from? (Library, purchased, publisher, etc) I bought this one.  I am a big library user but I love Jessi Kirby so I buy her books to keep.
Any special reason you chose to feature this book? Other than the fact that it is the only book I am reading at the moment, I am a huge Jessi Kirby fan.  I loved Moonglass and In Honor (you can check out my In Honor review here) and it was reading Moonglass that encouraged me to jump back wholeheartedly into the YA world, which is eventually what lead to me starting my blog.
What’s important that we should know about this book? Would you recommend it? This one is definitely a little different from Kirby’s other books, and it’s nice to see an author change things up (especially a relatively new author).  There is definitely an element of mystery to it, and if you are a poetry fan it features lines from Robert Frost’s poems, at the beginning of each chapter, which is kind of cool.

Whatcha drinking? I am drinking some pink lemonade.  It is a hot day, and I wanted something sweet.  I added some soda water for some bubbles.
What’s your favorite thing to drink while reading? I am big on the soda water lately.  That or just regular water.  If it’s winter, maybe some tea.
Favorite beverage of all time. Go! Definitely Coke, but I loved it way too much so I had to stop drinking it.  It was becoming problematic.  I stopped drinking it in January and haven’t had any since.  I’m not someone who can do things in moderation so I had to cut it out entirely.  Soda water has been a good replacement to get the carbonation, so I drink a lot of that now.

Bonus

What are your top three books you would recommend to other people? This is tough because it really depends on who I am recommending to.  Harry Potter and Hunger Games are the obvious choices that I would recommend to just about anyone, beyond that things get more audience specific. Yesterday in the bookstore I recommended The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight and From What I Remember to a friend of mine that I knew would love them both, and she bought them so I am pretty excited for her to read them.  No one in my real life knows about my blog (I don’t know why but I am scared for them to see it) so my book life and real life don’t always meet like that.
What’s your proudest blogging/reading/writing moment? It’s always nice to be acknowledged by authors when you write a review on their books.  Recently I got some very positive tweets from Stacey Kramer on my From What I Remember review which was pretty cool.  It’s nice to be acknowledged like that!
Anything else you’d like to share? I love meeting new book loving friends so stop on by my blog and talk to me! I’m a really bad Twitter user (I never have anything interesting to say in 140 characters) but I still love it so I would love to hear from new people! So please come be my friend!

Thanks, Liz!! That pink lemonade looks delicious! GOLDEN is a big fan favorite too! So glad you’re enjoying it!

Oooh pretty pictures! It’s making me really want some pink lemonade right now. I haven’t had some in forever! And Golden is the only Jessi Kirby book I’ve read, but I definitely enjoyed it. I might have to check out your other reviews for her other books! And um… wow. Go you for not drinking Coke since January. Not easy! I usually go through like phases where I’ll only drink pop or I’ll only drink water but have pop when I eat out. It’s just so hard to escape >.> Anyways, glad to find a new blog to follow since I hadn’t seen Liz around before!

And as always, I love this feature Brittany! I can’t wait to do mine 😀

This is so fun, and whoa does that pink lemonade look tasty. Is there anything better than a PINK drink? Hint: if you’re ever in Las Vegas there’s this drink you can get outside the MGM called “Absolut Pink” and it’s DELICIOUS. If you don’t drink you can get it virgin 😉
