Book and a Beverage

Welcome back to BOOK AND A BEVERAGE!

In case you don’t know the deal about Book and a Beverage, it’s a very simple yet fun feature: We read books, we drink beverages, we take pictures of them and then I share your photos and a little about you to the blogging world!

TheBlog

Name & Blog Name: Hi, friends! My name is Jana (it rhymes with banana), and I blog over at That Artsy Reader Girl! You can also find me at The Broke and the Bookish. I have been with those ladies since the beginning, and I love them all!
Tell us a little about your blog! That Artsy Reader Girl is an awesome place to hang out, but I’m probably a bit biased since I live there. Anyway, I review mostly YA books. I hadn’t realized it would be a predominately YA blog when I started, but these things happen sometimes. I review quite a few children’s picture books as part of my Inner child meme, some middle grade, and I love adult romance if it has pirates, knights, highlanders, or other swoony men.
What’s been your favorite post you’ve written so far? (Link us up!) Oh man. This is a hard question. I kind of love all my posts. They are like my wee little babies. If I HAVE to pick one, though, I think it would have to be the post where I announced my acceptance to grad school (Valdosta State University online Library and Information Science program)!  I love that post because of all the support I got from you amazing bloggers. I even had some people email me who were going to the same school and were in the same program! The outpouring of love made me even more confident I had made the right decision. Oh, and side note… one of my classmates is a blog follower, and we met at orientation! SMALL WORLD.
Got anything special coming up we should know about? Heck yes I do! I did this last year, and I’m doing it again! It’s A Bookish Little Christmas with That Artsy Reader Girl, and it is going to be so much fun. I’ve got some blogger friends guest posting about Christmas in their countries and bookish Christmas awesomeness. And I’m doing a bunch of features, and reading and reviewing a ton of Christmas books. Authors are participating too! I’m REALLY excited! It starts December 1st. 🙂

TheBook

Whatcha reading? I’m reading Cress by Marissa Meyer, and OH MAN. So good!
Where did it come from? (Library, purchased, publisher, etc) The publisher! Thanks Mac Kids Books. 🙂
Any special reason you chose to feature this book? Well, I’m reading it right now… plus, it’s one of my most anticipated reads of the decade! I still can’t believe all the squeals and books hugs that happened when Cress came in the mail!
What’s important that we should know about this book? Would you recommend it? It’s important because it’s the third book in The Lunar Chronicles (preceded by Cinder and Scarlet), it’s all about a futuristic Rapunzel, and it’s Marissa Meyer. I love it so far, and after all the crazy happy reviews I’ve read for it, I’m sure it gets even better! I will be recommending this author and her books forever!

TheBeverage1

Whatcha drinking? Chamomile tea with cream and sugar in my adorable little tea set for one. The polka dot tea pot lifts off the white tea cup with cherries. It’s adorable!
What’s your favorite thing to drink while reading? I’m kind of boring. Usually, I drink water because it has no calories or fat. I can drink and drink with no consequences. Hehe.
Favorite beverage of all time. Go! Boring again! My favorite beverage of all time is milk. It used to be Diet Dr. Pepper, but I quit to be healthier.

Bonus

What are your top three books you would recommend to other people? Wanderlove by Kirsten Hubbard, On the Island by Tracey Garvis-Graves, and Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo. They were the first three that popped into my head, but the more I think, the harder this question gets! I just love ALL the books.
What’s your proudest blogging/reading/writing moment? OH MAN. These questions are hard. I know the answer to this one, though! I have so many proud blogging moments including receiving my first ARC in the mail, going to my first signing and being recognized by a couple authors, going to ALA for the first time and meeting oodles of bloggers and pubs, etc. The biggest one for me, though, is when I discovered myself listed in the acknowledgements section of Uncharted by Tracey Garvis-Graves (sequel to On the Island). I will never, ever forget that. What a sweet author to think of little old me!
Anything else you’d like to share? I’d love to have all of you over for chamomile tea and book talking! This blogging community is so much fun, and that’s due to the fact that there are so many amazing people! The love of reading is still alive in this crazy world, and that is why I chose to get a master’s in library science. You’ve all had a hand in changing my life, and I’m so thankful for that! Thanks for having me, Brittany! And thanks to those of you who come visit me at the blog! I LOVE seeing your smiling… comments. Haha.

Thanks, Jana!! Firstly, I’m glad you pronounced your name because I was saying it wrong!! Phew.
And OMG you are just a girl after my own heart. CRESS. SHADOW AND BONE. Two of my favorite series and favorite authors. CRESS was so fantastic… I’m so excited to see you’re reading it!!

I hope you enjoyed getting to know Jana! You can find out more about Jana at her blog, That Artsy Reader Girl, on BlogLovin’, TwitterFacebook, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, and Goodreads!

Hehe. Thanks so much for having me here, Brittany! Very fun. 🙂 Many, many people pronounce my name differently, so I thought I would help everyone out. Hehe. We must talk Cress as soon as I’m done. I’m already DYING! SO GOOD! And yay Shadow and Bone! Definitely a favorite. Can’t wait for Ruin and Rising!!
