Book and a Beverage [48] – Lauren from Books, Tea & Me

Book and a Beverage

Welcome back to BOOK AND A BEVERAGE!

In case you don’t know the deal about Book and a Beverage, it’s a very simple yet fun feature: We read books, we drink beverages, we take pictures of them and then I share your photos and a little about you to the blogging world!

Give a big welcome to Lauren from Books, Tea & Me!

Name & Blog Name: Hey everyone! I’m Lauren over at Books, Tea & Me, where you’ll find book reviews, news and nonsense.
Tell us a little about your blog! I stared this blog over two years ago with the idea that it would just be something I did off and on, not thinking I’d actually love it as much as I do. But starting this blog was a great decision because it’s opened so many doors, and the fact that I’ve never tired of it and met lots of great people along the way has been a bonus! I don’t stick to just YA either, as my tastes are varied. And my blog is my second journal, so you’ll see snippets of my non-bookish life as well.
What’s been your favorite post you’ve written so far? (Link us up!) Oh wow, way to make things difficult. I don’t think I have a favourite review… but I absolutely loved my post for my 22nd birthday, even though it has nothing to do with books. And I really liked two discussions I wrote last summer: one about collecting books and the other about some of my bookish quirks.
Got anything special coming up we should know about? Well actually, I recently started my own feature called Book Nooks International! I “travel” to other book bloggers’ home libraries and we chat about the books they own, their reading quirks, and all things bookish. It’s quite fun and a great way to get to know new people!

Whatcha reading? I’m currently reading The Magicians by Lev Grossman for my book club.
Where did it come from? (Library, purchased, publisher, etc) I bought it. I have a book-buying problem…
Any special reason you chose to feature this book? Not particularly. Everyone in my book club loves Harry Potter and we heard this book is for “grown up Harry Potter fans,” so we thought we’d try it out.
What’s important that we should know about this book? Would you recommend it? Well, I’m only about 1/3 of the book done, so it’s hard to say whether or not it’s living up to my expectations. But so far I like it!

Whatcha drinking? I am currently sipping on Wine O’Clock’s pinot grigio white wine (yes, that’s the brand — cute, huh?). I love wine and this is one of my favourites! Yes, it’s only 2 o’clock in the afternoon, but it’s 5 pm somewhere…
What’s your favorite thing to drink while reading? I particularly love tea, of all kinds. I have quite the extensive tea and tea cup collection, no joke…
Favorite beverage of all time. Go! Oh dear, how can I even choose? Ummm… I do love David Tea’s Birthday Cake! And um, green tea. And real Indian Chai tea is delicious (my mom’s from India, so I’m partial to hers).

What are your top three books you would recommend to other people? That’s easy: The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling (obviously), Me Before You by Jojo Moyes, and The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkein. If you haven’t read either of those, get to it! (Yes, I realize the last one is rather long, but if you love fantasy and adventure and romance, you need to read it. It truly is incredible.)
What’s your proudest blogging/reading/writing moment? Well, to tie into the previous question, I’m quite proud I read The Lord of the Rings! If it wasn’t for my university’s fantasy class last year, I probably never would have picked up the series for quite some time. But now I can say proudly I read it from start to finish and loved it! Now just to start and finish George R.R. Martin’s Song of Ice and Fire series…
Anything else you’d like to share? Not particularly. Just that, because I’m not the biggest book blogger out there, I don’t get to participate in many things like this one, so thank you Brittany for starting this feature and letting me take part! This was a lot of fun!

Thanks so much, Lauren! Haha isn’t it always wine o’clock? (Love the brand name!)
Ooooh, A Song of Ice and Fire! It’s a daunting task, but so good! If you can, I highly recommend buddy reading it! So much fun to talk about with someone else as you read and another person helps you stay on track!

I hope you enjoyed getting to know Lauren! You can find out more about Lauren at her blog, Books, Tea & Me, on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Goodreads, and Instagram!

Yeah, and it also has a Science Fiction class! I went to Mount Royal University in Calgary, and they have so many interesting classes — like one strictly about the Holocaust (it ended up being my favourite class ever) and the witch-burning trials in Europe (sadly I didn’t get to take it because each semester it filled up right away).
      Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
