Book and a Beverage [90] – Lisa from Bookish Broads

Book and a Beverage

Welcome back to BOOK AND A BEVERAGE!

In case you don’t know the deal about Book and a Beverage, it’s a very simple yet fun feature: We read books, we drink beverages, we take pictures of them and then I share your photos and a little about you to the blogging world!

Give a big welcome to Lisa from Bookish Broads!

Lisa B&aB

1 Name & Blog Name: Lisa – Bookish Broads
Tell us a little about your blog! Bookish Broads is the beautiful union between Gaby (formerly of Queen Ella Bee Reads) and Lisa (of Lisa is Busy Nerding). We met through Epic Recs (hosted by Paper Riot and Books of Amber) and realized we had very similar taste in books and blogging style. Flippant comments here and there about how cool it would be to blog together became more serious and we took the plunge! I realize now this sounds like starting a new relationship, and it pretty much was exactly that way.
What’s been your favorite post you’ve written so far? (Link us up!) Gaby and I wrote this really in depth and fun post about YA Theme Songs! We feel like it hasn’t been as popular as we’d like, but at the same time it was SO much fun to put together that it makes us happier than anything, and that’s okay!
Got anything special coming up we should know about? Well, we are both going to ALA MW in Chicago where we’ll be meeting each other in person for the first time, so I’m pretty dang excited about that! We’ll be posting about that for sure, as well as our book haul from the event!

book

Whatcha reading?
I’m reading LION HEART (Scarlet #3) by A. C. Gaughen.
Where did it come from? (Library, purchased, publisher, etc) It came from Bloomsbury! It’s an ARC (comes out in May) and it’s probably one of my all time favorite series of all time!
Any special reason you chose to feature this book? The reason I’m featuring this book because as I mentioned above, I am absolutely in LOVE with this series and can’t wait to see how it all wraps up! Also, it was one of the very first Epic Recs Gaby had for me!
What’s important that we should know about this book? Would you recommend it? What’s important? I love the Robin Hood retelling from a female main character’s perspective, and Scarlet is just SO badass and strong and flawed and just UGH. So many feelings. Also the romance is TOP NOTCH. Yes you should absolutely read this, but prepare to be destroyed emotionally in the very best of ways. I believe in the YA dictionary next to “punched in the feels”, there is a picture of A. C. Gaughen.

beverageWhatcha drinking? I’m drinking coffee with a splash of Peppermint Mocha creamer! Yes, I know it’s late January and no, I don’t care. 🙂 Out of my TARDIS mug, of course!
What’s your favorite thing to drink while reading? I’m a coffee fiend, but I’ve started switching to drinking green tea at night so I’m not as wired! Anything warm while reading suits me just fine.
Favorite beverage of all time. Go! Favorite drink of EVER is definitely sweet tea! I’m a southern girl at heart, and I can’t get enough sweet tea. Although I use the fake pink stuff, which would probably be looked down upon in the true dirty south. The heart wants what it wants, man.

bonus

What are your top three books you would recommend to other people? The Chaos Walking Trilogy by Patrick Ness, His Fair Assassins Series by Robin LaFevers, Harry Potter Series by J. K. Rowling
What’s your proudest blogging/reading/writing moment? Just one proud moment?! Well, there was that time I mentioned how much I adored I AM THE MESSENGER by Markus Zusak and he replied to it and was like “Yeah, let’s talk about it” and we EMAILED EACH OTHER. And there was also the time I got to interview Patrick Ness on my blog, which was incredible. OH and that time when I MET PATRICK NESS and I was totally calm and not at all crazypants and did not vomit or weep which is really impressive given how much I adore that man and his writing. Can I also throw in joining blogs with Gaby? Please? Okay thanks!
Anything else you’d like to share? This is a personal plug, but my former book blog is now kinda my crafting blog so if you’re into that sort of thing, please stop by! 🙂

Thanks, Lisa! I am SO excited to see you both at ALAMW and I love that you’re meeting for the first time! That is the best feeling. So excited for you guys!
I have GOT to read Scarlet soon. Like THIS YEAR and maybe just binge read that series…
