TOP TEN TUESDAY
October 13, 2015

It’s Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by the wonderful blog at The Broke and the Bookish! This week’s topic was Top Ten Author Duos You’d LOVE To See Write A Book Together

I’ll admit that this isn’t the first time I’ve thought about this… With anthologies coming out like MY TRUE LOVE GAVE TO ME and SUMMER DAYS & SUMMER NIGHTS (expected sometime in 2016!), I’ve often wished for a collaboration of some of those authors within the same anthology. And when I go to events like the Fierce Reads tour where some of my favorite authors are all in the same place, I start to imagine what it’d be like if these authors got together and wrote together. Who are my dream teams? Check ’em out!

  • Marissa Meyer and Leigh Bardugo: They don’t have super similar writing styles but I would be lying if I said I hadn’t wondered what would happen if two of my favorite authors got together to work on one book! I’d love to see how their styles blend, mesh, and stand apart from each other all in one novel.
  • Gayle Forman and Rainbow Rowell: I consider these two ladies some of the masters of the more serious contemporary books and I would absolutely love to see a story from the both of them. Dual POVs from two main characters? That would be amazing.
  • Maggie Stiefvater and Laini Taylor: CAN YOU EVEN IMAGINE.
  • Sarah J. Maas and Robin LaFevers: Gorgeous world building, excellent character development, a fantastic feel, and layering plots. Yes, please!
  • Patrick Rothfuss and Brandon Sanderson: Oh, the fantasy worlds these two could create.
  • Stephanie Perkins and Kasie West: Smoosh all of the adorable into one book. I’d have a book hangover for daysssss.
  • Erica O’Rourke and Karen Akins: How fun and fantastic would these two be together? I can picture some amazing sci-fi worlds with some sassy and strong YA heroines.
  • Liz Czukas and Lauren Morrill: More of all of the adorable!
  • Robin Benway and Leila Howland: I think these two authors could be great together! I totally get the same sort of vibe from EMMY & OLIVER and NANTUCKET BLUE.
  • Ernest Cline, Aime Kaufman, and Jay Kristoff: So this is three authors BUT Aime & Jay wrote a book together already… so can that count as one and we add Ernest Cline in? Oh boy. We’d all be wrecked.

Which of these duos would YOU love to see? I guess we can only hope one will happen someday (maybe) BUT to be honest, I’m not sure how I’d feel if it really did happen! Their books are so unique and perfectly “them” that I can’t imagine them really being any different!

Ooooh yes, Laini Taylor and Maggie Stiefvater would be incredible <3 I've seen Laini Taylor in a lot of lists this week, but not paired with the same people (I've seen Leigh Bardugo, Cassandra Clare, Marie Lu…) I think everyone is just missing the amazing DoSaB world in general xD

I love the pairs of Sarah J Maas/Robin LaFevers and Rainbow Rowell/Gayle Forman, too! Four super awesome authors (part of me thinks this weeks' TTT was less "which two authors do you think could feasibly write a great book together" and more "which authors' books do you miss and want to see more of" haha but either way it's a super interesting topic!)

Haha totally! I always want more of these authors 😀
Laini would totally be amazing with Leigh Bardugo and Marie Lu too!
Thanks so much for commenting! 🙂 🙂

What an awesome exercise! I definitely agree with some of your choices, even though I never would have dreamed of paring them together myself! Now my mind is turning and churning with my own dream-team author couplings…

I am all for a Marissa Meyer and Leigh Bardugo collaboration. I think they’d be a match made in fantasy heaven.
Now if Maggie Stiefvater and Laini Taylor collaborated, I would fear for my emotional stability…so sign me up haha.

      Marissa & Leigh… I can only imagine!
I totally agree about Maggie & Laini. I don’t know if I could handle that book but it would sure be amazing!

I saw Maggie Stiefvater and Laini Taylor paired elsewhere so you are not alone in this! and hopefully the collective energy people are spending in wishing for this will, you know, actually make it happen. That would be amazzzzing, and basically the most beautifully written book ever.

Thanks so much! I loved seeing everyone’s different pairs too 🙂 There were so many I wanted to do — it was hard to choose!

Thanks so much!! I’m not a John Green fan so he wasn’t on my list but I had a hard time picking one match for Rainbow! Honestly anything with her seems like a winner 😀

Some amazing pairings and I almost did a few of them. Like Marissa and Leigh (I put them with different people) and Brandon Sanderson and Patrick Rothfuss (I put Sanderson with two others). But mostly I love the idea of Ernest Kline with Aime and Jay. Brilliant!

I thought about putting Marissa and Leigh with different people but two of my favs? I had to put them together!! Sanderson and Rothfuss though… that book would be INSANE.

Oh my goodness – Ernest Cline, Amie Kaufman, Jay Kristoff would be amazing! I just finished Illuminae and absolutely loved it! Also, Patrick Rothfuss and Brandon Sanderson are definitely on my TBR, but their books are so chunky and intimidating. I have to get to those soon!

Illuminae was fantastic! Throw Ernest Cline in the mix? Epic overload!! 🙂
I hope you enjoy Sanderson and Rothfuss! The Name of the Wind can definitely be intimidating but I was SO invested in it. Totally worth the reading time!
If you want to start with a smaller Sanderson book, you can always start with Steelheart (the first in the Reckoners trilogy)! Much shorter 🙂

Ouchhhhh not a Rothfuss fan, huh? What a bummer. I looooved his books. But I think his style and Sanderson’s would mesh well too!
I don’t know if I could handle a book by Maggie & Laini (oh, the feels!!!) but I’d surely love to read it 😀
      Thanks for commenting!

Oh no, don’t get me wrong! I loved The Name of the Wind. But I did think that Sanderson’s books are just a bit quicker reads? Like, I could read them with more ease. I’m really excited for their co-authorship now. This should totally happen!
