Name & Blog Name: Elizabeth Brooks, The Talking Bookworm
Tell us a little about your blog! I am one of two writers for The Talking Bookworm. The co-author and founder is Veronica. Generally we both read and review Young Adult fiction. Specifically, I review fantasy novels- basically any sub-genre of Fantasy. Though, on occasion I will read and review contemporary stories as well as novels under the New Adult genre. There are times when Veronica and I review a book together, and those are super fun because we have very different voices- she is more emotional and I like to be more logical, so readers really get to see both sides of the books we review.
What’s been your favorite post you’ve written so far? (Link us up!) There are two posts that are my favorite, and it’s great because they are related to each other. The first is my first review published with The Talking Bookworm, written back in October 2015, for Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. This book is the culmination of everything I love about YA fantasy stories and I was so excited for people to read the book. The second is a companion post for Six of Crows where I wrote about meeting Leigh Bardugo in person, talking with her about her novels, her writing process, getting her to sign the books that have changed my life. I wasn’t really a reader until a friend of mine suggested Bardugo’s Grisha Series. I couldn’t put books down after that.
Got anything special coming up we should know about? We hosted a Contemporary Conversations Month in March, where everything we read, reviewed, and discussed was contemporary YA novels. I’d really like to do something similar with the fantasy genre. It’s still in the idea process, and I am thinking about narrowing it down to Historical Fiction Fantasy because that is the genre I read least and would like to get more into it.

book

Whatcha reading? Twilight (The Mediator Series) by Meg Cabot.
Where did it come from? Amazon
Any special reason you chose to feature this book? The Mediator Series was recommended to me by my best friend and is what launched me into the YA world. The sixth book, Twilight is my favorite out of the seven novels in the series.
What’s important that we should know about this book? Would you recommend it? It’s a favorite of mine in the YA Paranormal Fantasy genre I read. It’s on the older side so I feel like it gets forgotten sometimes. And I would absolutely recommend it to anyone who loves paranormal romance. Meg Cabot is a fantastic writer.

beverage

Whatcha drinking?  English Breakfast Tea with milk and sugar (always add the tea to the milk, not the other way around)
What’s your favorite thing to drink while reading? Hot chocolate or iced tea, depending on my mood and the weather.
Favorite beverage of all time. Go! Arnold Palmer, can’t get enough!

bonus

What are your top three books you would recommend to other people? Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, A Matter of Fate by Heather Lyons, and recently – A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas.
What’s your proudest blogging/reading/writing moment? When people add books to their TBR lists that I’ve convinced them to read through my reviews. It means so much to me that people read and appreciate my words about these stories.
Anything else you’d like to share? I love talking and tweeting with fellow readers/bloggers so don’t be shy to tweet @ me! Thanks for having me!

Thanks so much, Elizabeth! HOORAY for Leigh Bardugo and Sarah J. Maas! I’ll have to check out Heather Lyons since she’s included in your favorites as well!! I still need to read the Mediator series too but I just bought most of them at the used book store!
