Book and a Beverage [173] – Angela from Angela’s Library

Book and a Beverage

Welcome back to BOOK AND A BEVERAGE!

In case you don’t know the deal about Book and a Beverage, it’s a very simple yet fun feature: We read books, we drink beverages, we take pictures of them and then I share your photos and a little about you to the blogging world!

Give a big welcome to Angela from Angela’s Library!

Name & Blog Name: Hello! I’m Angela and I blog at Angela’s Library.
Tell us a little about your blog! I started Angela’s Library as an outlet for my book obsession. My husband is super sweet and lets me gush about books and authors to my heart’s content, but he hates reading (tragic, I know!) and can’t always relate to my fangirling. As a result, I took to the Internet to connect with other book lovers and share my passion for all things literary. My blog primarily features Young Adult fiction, and I share reviews, book lists, playlists, and more.
What’s been your favorite post you’ve written so far? I had a lot of fun writing a post about fictional family members that would be entertaining to spend the holidays with. I’m also pretty proud of a post I wrote for this year’s Love-A-Thon (hosted by the lovely ladies at Alexa Loves Books, The Daily Prophecy, Super Space Chick, and The Novel Hermit) that recommends books people should read based on the movies they enjoy.
Got anything special coming up we should know about? I’m working on a plan to ramp up the frequency and variety of non-review posts on Angela’s Library, so you can expect to see more discussion posts, interviews, and other fun features within the next few months.

Whatcha reading?
I’m currently rereading The King of Attolia, which is the third book in Megan Whalen Turner’s Queen’s Thief series.
Where did it come from? (Library, purchased, publisher, etc) I purchased the Kindle ebook from Amazon.
Any special reason you chose to feature this book? The novels in the Queen’s Thief series are among my favorite books, and I’ve read them all about half a dozen times. I’m always looking for ways to promote the series and hopefully inspire others to adore it as much as I do. Also, I just found out that the next (very long awaited) installment will be out in May, so I’m extra excited about this series right now.
What’s important that we should know about this book?  I definitely recommend it! Turner’s books boast excellent writing, wonderfully dry humor, unexpected twists and turns, and brilliant political maneuvering, but what really makes the books shine is their fabulously clever hero. He’s a master thief and a cunning strategist whose brilliant schemes make me love him with all of my being.

Whatcha drinking?
Dr Pepper! It’s my go-to beverage; I’m a Dr Pepper fiend. I always crack open a can when I sit down to read, or work, or drive…or do anything, really. Basically, I keep a can of Dr Pepper nearby at all times. It’s an addiction.
What’s your favorite thing to drink while reading? When I get home from work in the evenings, I find it really relaxing to settle down with a nice glass of wine and a good book. Favorite beverage of all time. Go! Other than Dr Pepper, nothing beats a tall, cold glass of milk. As a kid I drove my parents nuts because I went through gallons of milk like crazy. My dad used to get really mad because I’d drink it all and there wouldn’t be enough left for his cereal in the morning.

What are your top three books you would recommend to other people? The Storyteller by Antonia Michaelis, The Raven Boys quartet by Maggie Stiefvater and the Red Rising trilogy by Pierce Brown are all fantastic.
What’s your proudest blogging/reading/writing moment? One of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had so far was when I received a message from Lauren Roedy Vaughn to thank me for my unsolicited review of her book OCD, The Dude and Me. She came across my review on Amazon and sent me a really sweet email about how I really got what she was going for with the main character. It was the first time an author had ever reached out to me, and it meant so much. Not only was she very gracious, but she also agreed to let me interview her for my blog.
Anything else you’d like to share? I love making new friends and talking with fellow book lovers, so please feel free to hit me up on social media or leave a comment on my blog. I’d love to chat with you!

Thanks, Angela! Oooh I still need to read the Queen’s Thief series and also Red Rising! They’re definitely on my TBR! Thanks so much for being on Book and a Beverage today!

I’m so sad that I’m basically lactose intolerant now because I like milk too! I used to drink so much of it in college with mini chocolate cakes haha. Another soda lover! I drink Coke myself 🙂 Oh man, I would love to reread (and finish) the Queen’s Thief series! I read the first two books aaaages ago and never knew there were any more until recently. The Raven Cycle is one of my favorite series!! I still need to try Red Rising.
