Which YA Character Are You? | MBTI Personality Type

The other day we were talking about personality type according to the Myers-Briggs or MBTI Personality types. I always forget what mine is but luckily I was able to remember because I had FIND YOUR HARRY POTTER PERSONALITY HERE!taken the quiz a while back and matched myself up with a Harry Potter characters thanks to an awesome graphic which I first saw on a Buzzfeed post. That got me thinking about other YA characters and who I might share a personality with and how other characters would fit into the same chart. I decided to take it into my own hands and create one! (Curious about that Harry Potter personality quiz? Check it out on the original  Buzzfeed post or click the image above to see! I’m ISFJ — Neville!)

Don’t know your personality type? Take the quiz here!

Before we get to the YA Character MBTI chart that I was inspired to create, I have to say that this was really hard to do! It seems a lot easier for Harry Potter because it’s a series that so many of us know and love SO well and there are SO many characters that are already well-known to choose from. Trying to pick from YA main characters proved a bit challenging because it’s hard to find a book revolving around some personality types because they’re more often a sidekick or secondary character. That being said, you’ll probably notice that some of my Es are maybe a bit more I in some places and some Ts a bit more F… The chart isn’t perfect, but I think it’s preeeetty darn close to what these characters really are and even if some may lean more introvert than extrovert, I think they matched the general description fairly well which is why they’re in the spot that they are! Anyway, it’s all for fun and I had a blast creating it so I hope you enjoy!

Introverted (I) vs Extroverted (E) | Sensing (S) vs Intuition (N)
Thinking (T) vs Feeling (F) | Judging (J) vs Perceiving (P)

So what do you think? It was really hard to match everyone up perfectly (go easy on me!) and some seemed pretty borderline for a couple different personality types, but I think they match up pretty well! Which characters do you agree with? What other characters have you done a personality analysis for? Where would they fall?

Nice post 🙂 I agree with most of these except Kestrel. As much as I wish that she did have the same type as me, she’s definitely an INTJ, not an ISTP.

I am THE DEFENDER. I actually really like that and feel that the description fits me so well. And I think Adam Parrish could definitely be an ISFJ. LOVE this post, Brittany! So super creative and fun. 🙂

I’m an INFJ myself which is usually the kind which is a generalisation as in you don’t fit any of the others xD But I liked my personality and I think you got me spot on!

i’ve had to take the test multiple times for my careers class and i’ve gotten enfp all four times i’ve done it so i’m pretty confident that’s my mbti type. and from the other myers briggs personality posts i’ve seen, it seems to be a pretty accurate description of my personality. i haven’t read dissonance but i guess i should now to meet del since we have similar personalities! i love the other girls i’m in company with though – rose from vampire academy and charlie from on the fence. great post brittany!!

Love this! I’m an INFJ, and when I first took the test, I felt so understood! I own Open Road Summer, so I’m going to have to move that up on my TBR pile. And I’ve only read The Raven Boys but with you saying Gansey is another INFJ, plus Meg from Cuddlebuggery’s covers she just designed, I’m going to need to read that series ASAP!

    Such a cool post idea!

PARK IS AN INFP TOO??! This actually makes me so happy, hehe. I have a longing to be a Cool And Badass character but if I’m with Park & Luna then YES. *pumps fist* This is such a cool idea — I mean, I see a lot of starsign things but they’re usually horribly inaccurate. All of your choices fit so well! 🙂

ISFJ sounds just like me. I haven’t read either of the books you mentioned, but it does sound like me!
Except I’m only organized at work not so much at home. Thank goodness my husband is organized.

    This is cleverrrrrrrr, Brittany!

I fall under the INFJ camp, so that’s Delilah and Gansey (unsurprising to me for some reason even though I haven’t exactly read the series).

(Also, for the Harry Potter one, I’m Lupin, which is like a YESSSSSSSSSSS to me. Ha.)

Hell yes I’m a Celaena!! Usually INTJs are villainous characters on every version of the “which character are you” quizzes (Malfoy, Littlefinger, Palpatine…) so I’m super excited to not be evil lol

I got INTJ this time, but in another test I got INFJ. I definitely agree with the IN part. I turn out to be Celaena, who is a character I really admire, so that is pretty cool. I can also identify with most of the things you’ve written down, but I could never be as bad-ass or fearless as her :p

Love this post! I can see what you mean about struggling to find characters who are universal enough though.

True story: The only way I remember my type is that I took a Disney version which put me as Pocahontas (which would be Remus Lupin on the HP version and Dee in yours). While I would love to have the same personality as some of the other characters in your chart, I have to say I’m pretty okay with being a Dee because she’s pretty great! (And if I’m being honest, INFJ is totally accurate–there’s just really no other choice.)

I have to be sure to show this post to all of my bookish friends now!

Best post ever – I’m ‘The Teacher’ or Dumbledore apparently. Thanks for the great post – great to find out my book personalities. – Kj

Well, I haven’t read either book listed of INTJ, but it’s gotta be better than seeing my personality type as Draco Malfoy. Fitting, but…ouch. 🙂
