Top Ten Tuesday – July 3, 2012: Top Ten Books For People Who Liked X Author

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday hosted by The Broke and the Bookish is:

Top Ten Books For People Who Liked X Author

There’s no way I’d be able to come up with 10 unique books based on one author, so here are 10 individual suggestions:

IF YOU LIKED If I Stay by Gayle Forman TRY One Moment by Kristina McBride

Both contemporary YA novels which I really enjoyed, and both with a loss as the main focus as the main character learns how to deal with the aftermath. I also thought both were written beautifully, although I did like If I Stay more!

IF YOU LIKED Size 12 Is Not Fat by Meg Cabot TRY The Pact by Jennifer Sturman

Although it’s hard to compare to Meg and one of my favorite series, I think I picked up The Pact as a recommendation from my sister who started me on both 🙂

IF YOU LIKED The Giver by Lois Lowry TRY Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech

Even though Walk Two Moons doesn’t have the same dystopia aspect, these are both books that REALLY stood out in my childhood and I have great memories reading!

IF YOU LIKED Twilight by Stephenie Meyer TRY Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

Even though Twilight seems to be the O.G. of YA vampire books, I think Vampire Academy gives a great spin on the classic vampire tales and even better romances as well

IF YOU LIKED One For the Money by Janet Evanovich TRY What Looks Like Crazy by Charlotte Hughes

Yes, these two authors worked together on a whole series, but I have yet to read it! The influcence was obvious as I read What Looks Like Crazy and it was a lot of fun. It’s a lot less mystery, but still a lot of wacky accidents!

IF YOU LIKED Naked In Death by JD Robb TRY Whiskey Sour by J.A. Konrath

Whiskey Sour doesn’t have the romance that the In Death series does, but I think the main characters are similar in that they’re both-tough-as-nails cops with authority and the murders are quite grisly! I found myself making comparisons.

IF YOU LIKED Delirium by Lauren Oliver TRY Matched by Ally Condie

Some really nice dystopian YA novels, both similarly facing aspects of forbidden love. I have to say, Delirium still has my heart! Matched lost me a little in the sequel, but I’m still very much anticipating the last book for both series.

IF YOU LIKED The Maze Runner by James Dashner TRY The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor

The Looking Glass Wars is a retelling of Alice In Wonderland – “This is the way it really happened”. For some reason I just find myself making the comparision to The Maze Runner and I think it has the same general l feel.

IF YOU LIKED Life As We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer TRY Monument 14 by Emmy Laybourne

Both more on the realistic side of the post-apocalyptic genres – Like what would happen if the world started to fall apart right now and not hundreds of years from now

IF YOU LIKED Queen of Babble by Meg Cabot TRY Can You Keep A Secret? by Sophie Kinsella

Contemporary books about nice girls who just can’t keep their mouths shut! Both very cute

I haven’t actually read too many of these. I do still need to read Matched, at some point, although at this rate I’ll be able to just read the whole trilogy at once.

I hope you enjoy it! If I Stay I felt was a little more mature where as One Moment felt more like I was reading it from a teenager, but I really enjoyed both!!
