Welcome back to BOOK AND A BEVERAGE!

In case you don’t know the deal about Book and a Beverage, it’s a very simple yet fun feature: We read books, we drink beverages, we take pictures of them and then I share your photos and a little about you to the blogging world!

Let’s all say hello to Alyssa from Books Take You Places!

She’s my first (non-local) IRL blogger BFF and I’m so excited to have her on Book and a Beverage so you can get to know her a little bit more 🙂

TheBlog

Name & Blog Name: Hello! I am Alyssa from Books Take You Places!
Tell us a little about your blog! Well, the most common thing that you will find on my blog are reviews of young adult novels. However, I do write a substantial amount of reviews on middle grade, and adult books as well. I also try to keep it fun with character analysis posts, author spotlights, and other things that stand out from the norm!
What’s been your favorite post you’ve written so far? (Link us up!) I feel like I keep showcasing this one but it really was the most fun I have ever had on my blog…Check out  my Swoonfest: Favorite Disney Men post!
Got anything special coming up we should know about? I will be recapping my BEA trip, including the Neil Gaiman author event (OMG) and I will be having quite a few giveaways, specifically featuring books that I got from BEA (hint: If you liked Code Name Verity, stay tuned!)

TheBook

Whatcha reading? Son of the Shadows, which is book two in the Sevenwaters series by Juliet Marillier.
Where did it come from? (Library, purchased, publisher, etc) Oh I have owned this one for quite some time!
Any special reason you chose to feature this book? Well, it’s my favorite book in the whole wide world, and I am currently re-reading it, for the 6th time, while our dear friend Amy reads it for the first time!
What’s important that we should know about this book? Would you recommend it? It’s beautiful. Haunting, mysterious, and romantic. Like all books by Juliet Marillier, it roots deep into your soul, breaks your heart into minuscule pieces, and then mends them back together.

Whatcha drinking? I am drinking a delicious cup of Earl Grey Creme tea from Teavana with a little splash of almond milk. MMMMM!
What’s your favorite thing to drink while reading? Tea, for sure! Also coffee, but usually I go with a delicious tea blend. I like to pair my reading up with a warm drink!
Favorite beverage of all time. Go! Can I say tea again? It is so soothing and smells delicious! I like loose leaf teas, they are fun to blend together, and some are DELICIOUS iced :]

Bonus

What are your top three books you would recommend to other people? Such a hard question for a librarian, I need to ask my reference questions!! The Sevenwaters series by Juliet Marillier is my favorite, and obviously something I recommend often, if you are looking for a deeply moving, layered, and beautiful fantasy, check these out immediately. The Hero’s Guide to Saving Your Kingdom by Christopher Healy is a fun and hilarious middle grade novel, and a great, enthralling adult novel is The Child Thief by Brom, it is horrific at times but it is a very interesting retelling of Peter Pan that I adored.
What’s your proudest blogging/reading/writing moment? I am most proud that I am keeping up with the blog, to be honest. There was a time last summer that I almost quit because it stopped being fun and started to feel like work. Now it is almost always fun and I feel proud that I am able to do my best work while still maintaining my busy life!
Anything else you’d like to share? I love meeting new book peeps so come check out the blog, or follow me on twitter, @withthebanned!

Thanks, Alyssa!! Lovely to have you stop by for a spot of tea 🙂

Hiiiii, Alyssa!!! *waves* I love that you’re such a hard-core tea drinker, and I LOVE that you’re drinking Earl Grey in your pic! That’s my favorite tea. 🙂 Also, I’m reading Son of the Shadows RIGHT NOW and loving it. 🙂

YAY Alyssa! It was a treat to read more about your favorite books and drinks. I do have that copy of the first book in the Sevenwaters series, so I think I need to get started on that one soon 😉

I love this feature, so much fun! I haven’t read any of the three recommendations suggested here, but another friend recommended The Child Thief to me and it’s on my TBR list. Glad to see it recommended again! And wow, rereading a book for the sixth time?! I’ve never done that O.o I think the closest I’ve gotten is like four times with the first Harry Potter book, and that was just to refresh my mind for when the sequels came out!

Mmmm that tea looks yummy! I always want to be a tea fan, but then I never am. Probably more in the winter though! I do love a good cup of Southern spiced tea! Also, will definitely have to check out the Sevenwaters series; I know Alyssa loves them so and I totally trust her book judgement!
