Welcome back to BOOK AND A BEVERAGE!

In case you don’t know the deal about Book and a Beverage, it’s a very simple yet fun feature: We read books, we drink beverages, we take pictures of them and then I share your photos and a little about you to the blogging world!

Let’s all say hello to Rachel from Rachel Reads!

TheBlog

Name & Blog Name: I’m Rachel from Rachel Reads 🙂
Tell us a little about your blog! Rachel Reads is my super awesome (if I say so myself) blog where I review YA books, most often contemporary YA since it’s my favorite genre. I originally started blogging because I have THE WORST memory ever and I wanted to remember my thoughts about everything I read. I didn’t even know a whole blogging community existed until a month or two after that, and somehow my blog blossomed into what it is now!
What’s been your favorite post you’ve written so far? (Link us up!) My favorite post is probably this post on why I like Insta-Love. It was the only time I used gifs and I enjoyed sharing my somewhat controversial opinion.
Got anything special coming up we should know about?
Not that I can think of! But I did just finish hosting a week-long event on my blog celebrating Teen Readers, which was a lot of fun to work on.

TheBook

Whatcha reading? Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock by Matthew Quick
Where did it come from? (Library, purchased, publisher, etc) It’s an egalley from the publisher.
Any special reason you chose to feature this book? I’ve only just started this one, but it’s something I’ve been interested in for a while. It’s much more intense and sad than I was expecting, but I love contemporary that is more on the heavy side, so I knew this would be one I’d enjoy.
What’s important that we should know about this book? Would you recommend it? Like I said, I’m not that far in, but the main character, Leonard, plans on bringing a gun to school, shooting someone who I assume is a student, and then killing himself. I was worried that with such a heavy topic the author would struggle to capture it properly, but so far it’s VERY engrossing.

IMG_0389Whatcha drinking? Blue Moon! It’s my all-time favorite beer.
What’s your favorite thing to drink while reading? My favorite thing to drink while reading would be any Starbucks drink. I’m IMG_0200addicted to Starbucks. I literally go there every Saturday and Sunday to read in the morning. My perfect morning is one spent sitting in the café sipping my latte over a good book.
Favorite beverage of all time. Go! Oh my goodness. This is difficult. Probably cucumber water. It’s so refreshing and yummy!

Bonus

What are your top three books you would recommend to other people? Crazy by Amy Reed, Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen, and Looking for Alaska by John Green
What’s your proudest blogging/reading/writing moment? Probably the first time I was brave enough to email an author and tell her how much her book meant to me. I have no problem talking to a large group of people, but emailing someone who I look up to is difficult. It wasn’t until I was more involved in blogging that I felt comfortable to do that.
Anything else you’d like to share? Thank you Brittany, for having me on the blog! And to all you bloggers/readers/human beings out there: Don’t forget to be awesome! 🙂

Thanks, Rachel!! Great book recommendations and so glad to see another person who loves Blue Moon! (My personal favorite as well! And yes…… I will always comment on the beer haha)
