TheBlog

Name & Blog Name: My name is Asti and I’m the crazy lady behind the blog A Bookish Heart!
Tell us a little about your blog! It’s complete crap.  Just kidding (or so I hope)!  A Bookish Heart officially joined the blogosphere on March 2nd, 2013.  From the beginning, I have always said that my book blog is not a book review blog, but a book lover’s blog.  A Bookish Heart is my place to talk about my bookish life, share my love for books in a variety of ways, and interact with other awesome book lovers who understand.
What’s been your favorite post you’ve written so far? (Link us up!) Ooh this is hard!  I like different posts for different reasons.  If we’re talking purely book blog related, I’d say my love triangle post in which I come up with creative ideas for creating a love triangle.  I think it’s one of the few posts that accurately captures my sense of humor, and I loved the reactions from readers.
Got anything special coming up we should know about? There is nothing going on at this current moment, but near the end of November the sign-ups for the next Bookish Games will
occur.  The theme will be  Harry Potter, so I’m super excited about it.  If anyone wants to check out what went down in the last game based off The Hunger Games, I have a page that recaps everything.

TheBook

Whatcha reading? At the time of writing this email, I am about to start More Than This by Patrick Ness.
Where did it come from? (Library, purchased, publisher, etc) I actually purchased this book from a local Waterstones the first week I arrived in London!  (It actually was published on the day of my arrival.)
Any special reason you chose to feature this book? Yes!  Patrick Ness is my favorite author at the moment, so anytime I can sneak his name into a conversation I do.  Plus, I’m super excited to get into this book so I had to share!
What’s important that we should know about this book? Would you recommend it? Well, it’s important to know it’s a Patrick Ness book.  I’m not sure about anyone else, but every book he writes makes me emotional in some way.  I doubt this one will be any different.  The first line says it all:  “Here is the boy, drowning.”

Whatcha drinking? Even though it’s a coffee cup, I’m drinking Pepsi.  (I actually don’t like coffee or tea, which seems to be a crime here in the UK.)
What’s your favorite thing to drink while reading? I usually don’t drink while reading.  I’m often too busy getting lost in the world I’m reading that I forget about necessities like food and drink.
Favorite beverage of all time. Go! Um… DQ Blizzard!  What, that should count!  I can drink it through a straw 😉

Bonus

What are your top three books you would recommend to other people? A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness (surprise), The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, and to go with my theme of books that have made me cry… The Fault in our Stars by John Green.  Misery loves company, right?
What’s your proudest blogging/reading/writing moment? What’s with all these tough questions?!  Hm… I’d say winning the Best Breakout Blog award for 2013.  I think it’s always easy to be critical of yourself and your work, so when it’s recognized in such a positive way it’s hard not to be shocked and touched.  I am truly thankful for each and every person who supports me, whether through a page view, comment, or tweet.
Anything else you’d like to share? Not that I can think of!  I’d just like to thank Brittany for being super amazing and running this feature!  YOU DA BEST! <3

Awww, you are too sweet, Asti! I will DEFINITELY have to read some Patrick Ness now… And OMG DQ BLIZZARD. That totally counts. I totally want one now…

I hope you enjoyed getting to know Asti! You can find out more about Asti at her blog, A Bookish Heart, on Twitter, and Goodreads!

It’s so cool to meet you Asti! I love that you’re a big Patrick Ness fan — I’ve never read any of his books, but it looks like that is something I should really remedy. And your blog is pretty awesome!

lolol! How the HECK can you drink a DQ Blizzard through a straw?! I call shenanigans! Or the DQ near you is doing it ALL WRONG!

Great, now I really want a blizzard. What’s your favorite kind of blizzard? I always seem to end up getting a Butterfinger one. For a while I was going to DQ a lot, and the drive-thru lady always misheard me, so she’d try to guess. For some reason her guess was always “cherry cheesecake blizzard?” so one day I decided to just go with it and get the cherry cheesecake blizzard. Bleh. Mistake! Butterfinger is better. >_>

Drinking pepsi from a coffee mug? Sacrilege!! Seriously, I don’t know anyone who does that, Asti. Only you. But I accept you wholeheartedly cos you’re awesome! And that love triangle post of yours seriously had me laughing during the last part!

I don’t know why but I’m a bit surprised you’re a TFIOS lover! Nonetheless, I’m very happy to hear that because I super loved that book! I have an important question: Which Patrick Ness book should I get first?

Haha, if I’m honest I only have that coffee cup because my boyfriend bought it since you know, he’s British and therefore loves coffee and tea. I usually don’t drink out of mugs but my cups were still in the dorm and it was just sitting on my desk… I couldn’t resist! Shhh don’t tell 😉

Oooh tough question. I’d say start with The Monster Calls. I absolutely loved his Chaos Walking trilogy but it’s been a while since I’ve read it so it’s not as fresh in my mind (though I’m planning a reread) and I haven’t yet gotten far into More Than This. So A Monster Calls, the illustrated version!

More than This! I hope you love it Asti! And your coffee mug is cute, even if it doesn’t hold the best liquid ever discovered(that’s coffee, by the way) in it.

Haha because of Asti my room is full of Patrick Ness’ books now. I haven’t read any of them yet but she has been recommending it so much that I just stacked everything in there and left it for the right time to come 😀

ASTI HOW CAN YOU NOT LIKE TEA OR COFFEE? I’M GOING TO DISOWN YOU.

Pssst, by the way I think that Asti lives in another universe where’s there so much more hours in the day ’cause how else is she able to post everyday and reply to comments and return them and stuff? It’s either that or she’s a magician. 😀

YES! SPREAD THE PATRICK NESS LOVE! I mean, I would much rather you actually read the books than just put them on display in your room, but one step at a time. It’s all going according to my evil plan… 😉

Nope, no tea or coffee. It’s like a sin, but blegh. I even hate the smell. Walking by a Starbucks scares me.

And really, that was totally me during the summer! I’m sure people must have noticed that my magic has worn off a bit what with me being in a new country, being in a postgraduate program, and having my boyfriend around. Like I’m about to run to the store today but later I have five posts I have to respond comments to and then if I’m lucky return the comments on those blogs. (I’m going to try, but not sure if the return will happen this week.) Blogging is hard work!
