Book and a Beverage [46] – Emily from Forever Literary

Book and a Beverage

Welcome back to BOOK AND A BEVERAGE!

In case you don’t know the deal about Book and a Beverage, it’s a very simple yet fun feature: We read books, we drink beverages, we take pictures of them and then I share your photos and a little about you to the blogging world!

Give a big welcome to Emily from Forever Literary!

Name & Blog Name:  My name is Emily, and I blog at Forever Literary! (I also contribute to Lit
Up Review
, a group blog that I work on with four other teenage bloggers.)
Tell us a little about your blog! My blog was born in May 2012 after I grew frustrated with the lack of people in my “real life” who shared my taste in books. Now it has grown into a place where I can discuss YA literature with people who love it as much as I do, which continues to amaze me every day. I review YA of all kinds (but my favorite genres are contemporary and historical fiction) in a relatively analytical style, and I love hearing thoughts and feedback from fellow readers.
What’s been your favorite post you’ve written so far? (Link us up!) I had a ton of fun writing and got a great response on a sarcastic post about books that might be “too racy” for teens. And my favorite review is The Near Witch by Victoria Schwab!
Got anything special coming up we should know about? My blog’s second birthday
will be here in a couple of months! I don’t know if I’m doing to celebrate, but I’m excited.

Whatcha reading? Sorta Like a Rock Star by Matthew Quick!
Where did it come from? (Library, purchased, publisher, etc) I got it from my lovely
Any special reason you chose to feature this book? Just because I’m currently
reading it and think it’s worthy of featuring so far.
What’s important that we should know about this book? Would you recommend it? As I type this, I’m on page ten, so I can’t answer this question with much authority. I can say, though, that the protagonist’s voice is already fantastic. The story follows a homeless girl who lives in the school bus her mom drives, but despite her problems, she is not at all whiney. I can already tell that she is witty and smart and will try to overcome obstacles rather than complain about them.

Whatcha drinking? I’ll tell you up front: I’m going to be totally boring in this section. I drink water almost exclusively (occasionally I have orange juice or milk), so my answer for this question will have to be H2O.
What’s your favorite thing to drink while reading? Again, water.
Favorite beverage of all time. Go! Considering we would all be dead without it… water. 🙂

What are your top three books you would recommend to other people?  My recommendations usually vary based on individual taste, but the first three “everyone needs to read this” books that come to mind are Code Name Verity, Rose Under Fire (can you tell I like Elizabeth Wein?), and Between Shades of Gray. I tend to make broad, sweeping recommendations when it comes to great books about important and terrible historical events.
What’s your proudest blogging/reading/writing moment? My proudest blogging moment was going to ALA Annual in Chicago last summer. Meeting publishing employees and my blogging friend Willa made me feel like an established blogger for the first time, and attending the convention fueled my dreams of working in publishing.
Anything else you’d like to share? Since we have been talking books and blogging up until now, I should say that in addition to being a reader, I am also a high school student, a concert choir kid, an amateur journalist for my school’s newspaper, a lover of British culture, and so many other things. If you are any of the above, or even if you are not, we should chat! Thanks so much for having me on your blog, Brittany!

Thanks so much, Emily!! Hey, everyone needs water! Nothin’ wrong with that! 🙂
I LOVE that you’re a choir kid. I was a total choir nerd in high school AND in college so YES, let’s talk about choir, always! 🙂

I hope you enjoyed getting to know Emily! You can find out more about Emma at her blog, Forever Literary and her group blog Lit Up Review, on Twitter, Goodreads, and Bloglovin’!
