Welcome back to BOOK AND A BEVERAGE!
In case you don’t know the deal about Book and a Beverage, it’s a very simple yet fun feature: We read books, we drink beverages, we take pictures of them and then I share your photos and a little about you to the blogging world!
Give a big welcome to Brenna from I Have Lived A Thousand Lives!
Name & Blog Name: Brenna at I Have Lived a Thousand Lives
Tell us a little about your blog! I started blogging about a year ago when I started reading book blogs. People blogged about this stuff??? HECK YEA! And originally I wanted to write a blog that was mostly focused on the classics. I myself struggle with picking good classics to read–it’s like reading any other book. It can be totally hit or miss, just because you hated one doesn’t mean you hate them all. But how do you pick? Well, it kinda trailed off into more than just classics but I still love the classics. I’m also going through a possible blog name change. You can read about that process here: Blogging
What’s been your favorite post you’ve written so far? (Link us up!) My post about my feelings about YA Fiction is probably one of my favorite discussions.
Got anything special coming up we should know about? Again note the possible name change! Besides that, there really isn’t anything definite coming up yet. I’ve been on a little bit of a blogging slump lately, but that should be amended soon.
Whatcha reading? Dreams of Gods and Monsters by Laini Taylor
Where did it come from? (Library, purchased, publisher, etc) Purchased
Any special reason you chose to feature this book? I have to give a shout out to this series (even though I just said YA books aren’t usually a solid hit for me). I fell head over heels for book 1 (Daughter of Smoke and Bone) and of course burned through book 2, but this one I haven’t been able to burn through. It’s one of those books that I don’t want to end, so mentally I CAN’T burn through it.
What’s important that we should know about this book? Would you recommend it? HELL. YES I would recommend it!!! I don’t even know what to say about it because I’ve been so high on the story. Taylor keeps you on your toes, that’s for sure. I’m someone who can’t help but predict endings as I’m reading, and so books that are supposed to have major plot twists that I already know are pretty “meh” for me. With Taylor, I honestly have no idea what to expect, and that’s part of what I love about these books.
Whatcha drinking? Diet Coke
What’s your favorite thing to drink while reading? An Americano from Starbucks
Favorite beverage of all time. Go! UNFAIR! Diet Coke and Coffee. I’m not picking sides. Nope.
What are your top three books you would recommend to other people? Pride and Prejudice because of the characters. Jane Eyre because Jane is probably the ultimate heroine. Code Name Verity (which is new on my top three list by the way) because of the way it will make you feel.
What’s your proudest blogging/reading/writing moment? [None]
Anything else you’d like to share? [None]
Thanks, Brenna! Good luck with the name change! I know that’s a really hard thing to choose a name and I think a lot of people wish they could make the switch!
Hope you’re enjoying Dreams of Gods and Monsters! I just finished this week!
