Name & Blog Name: Betty – Book Rock Betty
Tell us a little about your blog! I have been blogging for a little over a year!  I have 2 kids (the baby bettys) and a third on the way.  I decided I needed a hobby, so I inquired with Forever Young Adult about starting or joining a book club.  They linked me up with another person in the area and we started one!  A few book club members were bloggers and convinced me to start one of my own even though I had no idea what a book blog even was!  I just kinda winged it… and here I am!  The name Book Rock Betty was inspired by If I Stay by Gayle Forman!  Mia calls the conversations between her dad and Adam rock talk– which I turned into book rock– Book Rock Betty!  On the blog I focus on book reviews, random discussions, and natural living!
What’s been your favorite post you’ve written so far? (Link us up!) Hmmm…  This is tough because I am really random with my posts!  I’ll give a few!
–> Book Rockin’ With Betty – Featuring Katie McGarry — I love this one because it was so much fun to create!  I love Katie McGarry and can’t believe she puts up with my crazy antics!
–> Mr. Betty Knocked Me Up…. Again! —  I love this post because it means so much to me.  I get pretty personal and share something scary that I went through that changed me for the better!
–> 25 Days of Book Boyfriends: Cole Holland — Anyone that follows my blog knows I’m obsessed with Cole Holland.  He is my top book boyfriend and I love Mr. Betty so hard for putting up with me and making this video!
–> Talkin’ Boobs — Natural living is really important to me. This post got a lot of attention, which is why I am including it!
–> Baby Bettys: The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt —  Okay, I know… I know.. I chose 5, not 3. Sorrry!  Had to include this one though because I am so happy that my girls can be a part of the blog. More importantly, I can see my love for reading being passed on to them!  It makes my heart melt!
Got anything special coming up we should know about? I wish!  hahaha  Unfortunately, things are crazy in real life right now.  I am due with baby #3 in September and we just put our house up for sale this week!  This sounds insane, but I’m hoping we can pull it off and be settled in a new house before this baby arrives.  Once things settle down a bit I’m sure I’ll have something new and awesome that I wish I could tell you about RIGHT NOW.  😉

photo-2Whatcha reading? Boomerang by Noelle August
Where did it come from? (Library, purchased, publisher, etc) Veronica Rossi hooked me up with a copy!!
Any special reason you chose to feature this book? I just attended BEA a few weeks ago and came home with so many good books that I’m dying to read, but at the same time don’t want to start them because of how hectic things are for me right now!  If I knew I had several hours a day to read, I’d be starting Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas or The Return by Jennifer L. Armentrout, but I need to give my full self to books like that!  It would be a disservice to the books and to myself if I couldn’t give them the time they deserve considering how invested I am in those series! So… I needed a lighter contemporary novel that I had no connection to yet and wouldn’t feel guilty starting and stopping and maybe not finishing for an entire week.  This fit the bill!
What’s important that we should know about this book? Would you recommend it? Well, it is New Adult.  NA has quite a stereotype for being plot lazy and oversexed, but I do think they are getting better as the genre develops!  I was super excited about this one because I love Veronica Ross and she is half the brain behind this one!  Plus, I was curious to see what her contemporary romance style would be like considering she made eating berries in the woods panty melting sexy in Under the Never Sky!  I like the fact that it focuses on characters in the phase of life after young adulthood.  In this book, the characters are fresh out of college.  They meet at a bar and the first scene involves the two main characters waking up from a one night stand.  A cab ride later, they find out they are both interns at the same company competing for the same job.  You know where this is going…..  😉  😉  I am really enjoying it!!  The characters are hilarious and have great chemistry!

unnamed-6 Whatcha drinking? Lemon water!!  🙂  I love ice water with lemon slices.  If I wasn’t pregnant I’d probably be drinking chamomile tea in a chicken mug, but there are way too many rules with what you can and can’t have when pregnant, so I just avoid tea in general.  *frown*  HOWEVER… I refuse to give up on my love for chickens, so I bought these awesome chicken mug glasses to fill in!!
What’s your favorite thing to drink while reading? Probably chamomile tea or a beer (Yuengling is my favorite)!   🙂   If I ever get the chance to read in the morning, I’m all about coffee, straight up black.  I rarely read in the morning though.  I blame the baby bettys.
Favorite beverage of all time. Go! Black Coffee  🙂  —  oh OH… or a  Peppermint Java Chip Frappuccino from Starbucks, but I rarely get this because of the crazy high sugar content!

What are your top three books you would recommend to other people? I push books like crazy, but these are the 3 I usually push the most! The Opportunist – Tarryn Fisher, Slated – Teri Terry, Alice in Zombieland – Gena Showalter (I also push Katie McGarry and Huntley Fitzpatrick books like a madwoman!)
What’s your proudest blogging/reading/writing moment?
Hmmm…. not sure on this one.  It is definitely a cool feeling to go to book events and have authors or other bloggers recognize my blog or face from Twitter!  It is also always a huge honor to have a publisher email me asking me to read books or help promote books or authors!
Anything else you’d like to share?
I recently read Gone by Michael Grant and it was the second book in my entire life to DNF.  I feel bad about it.  Anyway, thanks for having me on your blog today!!!

Thanks, Betty! I’m so interested in Boomerang!! I’m hesitant to get into New Adult but this one sounds really great! And I LOVE where you blog name came from!! Gayle Forman for the win!

I hope you enjoyed getting to know Betty! Connect with her at the links below!
