Welcome back to BOOK AND A BEVERAGE!
In case you don’t know the deal about Book and a Beverage, it’s a very simple yet fun feature: We read books, we drink beverages, we take pictures of them and then I share your photos and a little about you to the blogging world!
Give a big welcome to Anne from Lovely Literature!
Name & Blog Name: Anne @ Lovely Literature
Tell us a little about your blog! Lovely Literature started in Dec. 2013 after my bestie (Ashley) and I decided it would be a fun adventure and good idea since we both aspire to be published authors. We also share a love of books, even though our reading tastes are varied. Our visitors should expect to find a wide range of YA and Adult titles reviewed on the blog, from the classics and latest in regency fiction, to science fiction and fantasy. We recently switched to a self-hosted site, and are tweaking our blog design quite a bit these days!
What’s been your favorite post you’ve written so far? (Link us up!) While I always feel like the best is yet to come, I really enjoyed my discussion post on sex in books. And I enjoy all of my reviews, but those are mostly for me. 🙂
Got anything special coming up we should know about? We have some pretty snazzy features that are gearing to launch this month. A feature we are calling Literary Cage Match should be pretty interesting. We’re pitting two characters against each other who never had a chance to fight before and are asking our readers to pick who would come out on top.
Whatcha reading? Wild Seed by Octavia E. Butler
Where did it come from? (Library, purchased, publisher, etc) Purchased it myself
Any special reason you chose to feature this book? It’s the book I just started!
What’s important that we should know about this book? Would you recommend it? I heard about Wild Seed from a book about writing science fiction and fantasy. Based on that recommendation, and the little I’ve read so far, I would tell people to give it a shot. Plus, Butler is well known for her writing.
Whatcha drinking? Lugene Chocolate Milk Stout by Odell Brewing Company
What’s your favorite thing to drink while reading? I typically don’t drink while reading, or eat anything. When reading, I’m completely absorbed!
Favorite beverage of all time. Go! Is it a total cop-out to say ice water? Instead of drinking coffee in the morning, I just fill up a big cup of ice water and I’m set!
What are your top three books you would recommend to other people? Oof, three books?! Well, I’m going to split this by genre to make it easier on myself. Classic – Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, Science Fiction – Hyperion by Dan Simmons, YA – Seraphina by Rachel Hartman.
What’s your proudest blogging/reading/writing moment? Something that made me smile from ear-to-ear very recently was a tweet by an author. It was great because the author actually went out to my review, pulled a quote and tweeted my quote with a link to the review! It’s the little things.
Anything else you’d like to share? I love learning about new sites. Come stop by and say hi so I can find out about you. I’ve seriously found some of the best blogs very recently and am always amazed by how many book blogs there are out there!
Thanks, Anne! SO jealous about your Odell’s beer. They’re one of my favorite breweries but we can’t get any this side of the Mississippi!
I hope you enjoyed getting to know Anne! Connect with her at the links below!
