Welcome back to BOOK AND A BEVERAGE!
In case you don’t know the deal about Book and a Beverage, it’s a very simple yet fun feature: We read books, we drink beverages, we take pictures of them and then I share your photos and a little about you to the blogging world!
Give a big welcome to Michelle from Roaring Out!
Name & Blog Name: Michelle Ovalle. My blog is RoaringOut Tell us a little about your blog! My blog is a bit of a hodge podge! I write about books, poetry, teaching, spirituality, Doctor Who–things that are silly and things that matter. I’m interested in so many things, and I want my blog to reflect that. I enjoy sharing things I love, and I want my blog to reflect that too. What’s been your favorite post you’ve written so far? (Link us up!) This isn’t so much a post I’ve written all by myself, but an interview. I got the chance to interview Stephanie Levy, one of my art heroes. She’s so sweet! And so wise. I loved her answers to my questions Got anything special coming up we should know about? Yes! Soon (thanks to Where Is Wallis I’ll be starting video book reviews. I’m very excited about this new feature! Whatcha reading? The City by Dean Koontz Where did it come from? (Library, purchased, publisher, etc) Library Any special reason you chose to feature this book? Not particularly. It’s just my current read. It’s a really popular title right now, so I had to get a large print edition, which makes me feel like I’m ninety 😛 What’s important that we should know about this book? Would you recommend it? I tried a book by Dean Koontz years ago, but was disappointed by the ending. This one, however, sounded interesting. It’s about a man named Jonah Kirk who is visited by a woman who claims to be the embodiment of the city he lives in. I love elements of magic, so I figured I’d give this book a go. So far, I’d recommend it if you like supernatural elements and art (the main character is a musician). Whatcha drinking? A chocolate milkshake What’s your favorite thing to drink while reading? Usually water, but I love milkshakes when the weather is hot. Favorite beverage of all time. Go! Chocolate banana milkshake. At this cafe I go to, it’s called a “Curious George.” The two flavors compliment each other so well, and it’s especially yummy in the summer! What are your top three books you would recommend to other people? Oh goodness, this is tough! 1. The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey, 2. The Unchangeable Spots of Leopards by Kristopher Jansma, 3. Tell Me by Kim Addonizio (for poetry lovers) What’s your proudest blogging/reading/writing moment? When I blogged about my struggle with depression. It’s certainly a somber post, but it was important for me to be transparent with my readers. To my pleasant surprise, the response was so supportive and positive. I’ve gotten so many messages saying how brave the post is and how it’s helped readers put words to their own struggles. That last part (helping show people they are not alone and giving them courage) makes blogging so worth it for me and keeps me going. Anything else you’d like to share? I love chatting. Feel free to contact me via social media or e-mail!
Thanks, Michelle! Oh my gosh, you have no idea how much I’m craving a Curious George milkshake right now! So much fun!!
