Book and a Beverage

Welcome back to BOOK AND A BEVERAGE!

In case you don’t know the deal about Book and a Beverage, it’s a very simple yet fun feature: We read books, we drink beverages, we take pictures of them and then I share your photos and a little about you to the blogging world!

Give a big welcome to Karen from One More Page!

1 Name & Blog Name: Karen from One More Page…
Tell us a little about your blog! I started my blog earlier this year after I started reading again after taking a break for almost a year after graduating from university. I love both adult fiction and YA literature, so I review both of them on One More Page… I also try to read as much Canadian Lit as I can!
What’s been your favorite post you’ve written so far? (Link us up!) I’m a big fan of lists, so I always love writing list posts. My favourite one of the bunch so far is the one that I wrote for Canadian Thanksgiving called 10 Reasons Why I’m Thankful for Blogging and the Bookish Community. It’s a long title, I know, but I do mean every single point I made in it and I continue to be thankful every day.
Got anything special coming up we should know about? Nothing in particular, but I’m hoping to put up a gift guide in the next few weeks, because who doesn’t like bookish gifts, right?

Whatcha reading? I’m currently reading Belzhar by Meg Wolitzer.
Where did it come from? (Library, purchased, publisher, etc) Purchased!
Any special reason you chose to feature this book? No specific reason other than it’s the book that I’m reading right now! I had a phase where I read multiple books at once, but I’m usually a one book at a time kind of gal.
What’s important that we should know about this book? Would you recommend it? I’ve only read a few chapters, but I’m really into it so far. The interesting thing about it is that it’s a retelling/strongly alludes to Sylvia Plath’s The Bell Jar. I’d recommend reading The Bell Jar before jumping into this one to avoid potential spoilers!beverage Whatcha drinking?  I’m not technically drinking this now, but I enjoyed a delicious Soy Chai Tea Latte from Starbucks earlier.
What’s your favorite thing to drink while reading? To be honest, I’m a huge fan of Kombucha. It’s kind of an acquired taste, but I can’t get enough of it! I think I have weird taste though, because I also love drinking citrusy juices with cayenne pepper in it.
Favorite beverage of all time. Go! This is such a hard question! I’d have to go with anything green tea-based.bonus

What are your top three books you would recommend to other people? There are many many books I’d recommend but the ones that come to mind are To Kill a Mockingbird, The Picture of Dorian Gray, and All The Light We Cannot See.
What’s your proudest blogging/reading/writing moment? My blog was featured on Canada Writes, a division of CBC Books earlier this year, and that’s probably the coolest thing that’s ever happened to me! I was pretty psyched about that.
Anything else you’d like to share? Nope, just thank you so much for having me, Brittany! You have been so kind and friendly ever since we met in this community and I couldn’t be more thankful! 🙂

Thanks, Karen! Oh that is SO cool about your blog being featured on Canada Writes!! Congrats! What a neat honor.

Hey Karen! One, you’re drinking my ABSOLUTE favorite drink for Starbucks (soy and all), and two, I’m happy you’ve started reading again! 🙂
