TOP TEN TUESDAY
February 3, 2015

It’s Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by the wonderful blog at The Broke and the Bookish! This week’s topic was Top Ten Fantasy Books I Haven’t Read Yet (books from X genre… I chose fantasy since that’s my newest!)

The other week, I shared my Top Ten Fantasy Books (so far) because it’s a genre that’s still a bit new to me but I’m really excited for! That being said, I do still have a LOT of catching up to do in this genre! There are so many books and series I can’t wait to read so this is the perfect time to share those!

NOTWTHE NAME OF THE WIND is one I really need to read ASAP! Alyssa & Amy love and think I will enjoy it too! I can’t wait to start it this year — probably via audio & Kindle! I’ve heard nothing but good things.

WOKI became a pretty big Sanderson fan this past year! I’m really excited to read pretty much everything from him in the years to come! THE WAY OF KINGS I think is the next on my list (after STEELHEART which I’m currently reading)!

QotTI’ve heard MANY good things about THE QUEEN OF THE TEARLING too! I know the second book is coming out so I should REALLY read the first soon!

neverwhereAlso thanks to Alyssa, I’ve been reading Neil Gaiman every now and then. He’s one of her favorite authors and I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve read by him so far! I’m really interested in NEVERWHERE!

SCARLET With LION HEART coming out this spring, the book world is abuzz once again with this series. Alyssa gave me SCARLET for Christmas (last year) and I think I may just binge read the series!

BURNINGSKYThis book looks totally like it’s right up my alley. I have a feeling I’ll really enjoy it! I’ve heard a FEW mixed reviews but hopefully this one really lines up with my fantasy tastes!

GOFATI have waited WAY too long to read Rae Carson’s books. They sound absolutely delightful and what is that, internet? Something about Hector?

poisonstudyPOISON STUDY is another one that sounds just wonderful. I’ve actually had my eye on this for a VERY long time and out of all of these books, I think it’s been on my TBR the longest. I finally own a copy though, so… soon, right?
DOTFAnother favorite of Alyssa’s is DAUGHTER OF THE FOREST (which she also bought for me) and I PROMISE I’m reading it in 2015!

seraphinaLast but not least, SERAPHINA is on my list! I actually checked it out from the library a LONG time ago but didn’t have the time to read it so back it went. I can’t wait to check it out hopefully this year — and its sequel too!

I’m so excited to read even MORE fantasy this year! Which books on this list should I start first!?

I basically should be reading the majority of the fantasy books you pointed out myself as well. I really can’t believe I haven’t read anything written by Neil Gaiman or Brandon Sanderson especially because I have been hearing about how epic their fantasy. I have read Seraphina and rather liked it! I know the sequel is coming out soon. And I have a review copy for The Queen of Tearling book 2, so I need to read the first one!

OMG NAME OF THE WIND!!! READ IT RIGHT NOW! IT’S SO AMAZING.

Sorry, I totally freaked out there. Lol. You should also get to Girl of Fire and Thorns and The Burning Sky. Loved both of those!

I had Seraphina on my list and Queen of the Tearling is another one I want to get to soon!!

Wow, and I thought I was one of the last bloggers to read The Girl of Fire and Thorns. It’s definitely a trilogy you need to binge soon, Brittany. 🙂

There are just WAY too many novels I’m excited about on your list, Brittany! If you want my opinion, you definitely need to read these: The Queen of the Tearling, The Burning Sky, The Girl of Fire and Thorns, Daughter of the Forest AND Seraphina. I’ve read those, and they are EXCELLENT.

oohhh lots of great ones on this list, lady! Fire and Thorns and The Burning Sky especially! I bet you’d LOVE them. Amazing characters and romances and world building.
I’ll be binging Scarlet once Lion Heart comes out this spring. Can’t wait!
I hope you get to these soon, girl!

P.S. SO great seeing you at ALA. Wish we could have hung out more!!!

Fantasy is a bit of a newish genre for me too. The Name of the Wind, The Queen of the Tearling and something, anything by Brandon Sanderson are on my to-read list.

SCARLET is very, very good. I didn’t like the sequel as much but it was still good. And a big, fat yes to THE GIRL OF FIRE AND THORNS, whose sequels I really, really want to read.

So many good books on this list, although I’ve actually only read about half, if that. I hope you do read Poison Study soon, and Seraphina, they are my two favourite books on your list, they may be some of my favourite books ever because they are both different and fun. And both books have another in the series coming out (although I think the Poison Study one may be part of a new trilogy that she’s writing, but don’t take my word for it, that’s just me guessing.)

Great list, though, awesome reads, and a few of these are currently gathering dust on my shelf too.

Daughter of the Forest is heartbreaking, beautiful, and entirely captivating. Juliet Marillier is one of the best (but unappreciated) fantasy authors out there. I hope you read it soon!

The Name of the Wind is also amazing, but I think it might be better to read it right before the third book comes out. It’s a big book, as is the second one, and there are so many details to forget!

Oh! Your list includes some of my favorite fantasy books… Daughter of the Forest (SO SO GOOD) and The Girl of Fire and Thorns. I have some catching up to do in fantasy, too. Still haven’t read any Brandon Sanderson.

DAUGHTER OF THE FOREST. YES. Marillier is one of my all time favorite authors and I feel like she doesn’t get enough attention. I’m so happy to see this on your list, together with Girl of fire and thorns, Poison Study and Scarlet. I’m in love with kick-ass Scarlet and Lady thief is even better. I also thought The queen of the Tearling was very enjoyable 🙂

I am contractually obligated to tell everyone to read Seraphina as soon as possible (not really). With the sequel coming out you are in a great position to read both close together. I LOVE Seraphina but gosh Shadow Scale is amazing too.

The only one of these series I’ve read is The Girl of Fire and Thorns, which I LOVED! Elisa is simply a relatable and inspiring heroine. And yes, Hector!!! So, so good. Must add some of the others to my TBR list.

Ha, I did the same topic! I also haven’t read Scarlet, but I want to. I wasn’t sure if that was fantasy, otherwise I would have totally added it to my list. I own the darn book, and I freaking love Robin Hood, so why I haven’t read it is beyond me. I have read Girl of Fire and Thorns. That’s very good. I haven’t read the other two books in the series though.

Daughter of the Forest is on my list, and I really need to make time for that soon. I think I would love it.

We have very similar lists. The only book on your list I have read is The Burning Sky and The Name of the Wind which I really liked. All others I definitely need to read as well. I also became a big Sanderson fan last year and Way of Kings is probably my next read as well. That serious looks great but the length of the books is a little intimidating. I’ll probably do the audio for that one. Great list.

Poison Study, I am so with you Brittany! I’ve been meaning to read that book for.. pfft, over a year and a half at least, if not more? I’m such a bad reader, all the new shiney pretties, bad bad bad. I hope to get to it soon, and Scarlet has been taking my eyemore lately, so I might consider it one day.. great list! 😀
