Welcome back to BOOK AND A BEVERAGE!
In case you don’t know the deal about Book and a Beverage, it’s a very simple yet fun feature: We read books, we drink beverages, we take pictures of them and then I share your photos and a little about you to the blogging world!
Give a big welcome to Kristina from Gone Pecan!
Name & Blog Name: Kristina @ Gone Pecan
Tell us a little about your blog! We’ve been around for a few years (God that makes me feel old) and review an eclectic mix of adult and YA books. I also have a co-blogger, Daphne, and we participate in several features with other bloggers.
What’s been your favorite post you’ve written so far? (Link us up!) Probably my Casting Call post for Shadow and Bone. I love doing castings even though I don’t post them often and I’m ALWAYS thinking about this movie because I need it in my life STAT.
Got anything special coming up we should know about? Well, I’m happy to say that the band is getting back together! We took a brief break from our Selective Collective posts with some of our best blogger friends and though we won’t necessarily go back to posting about books as a group we will be reading together and chatting which is what we all missed the most. Also, I’m in the works to start a new feature with Sarah over at What Sarah Read but we aren’t quite finished ironing everything out so shhhhhh…….
Whatcha reading? The Orphan Queen by Jodi Meadows!!!!!!!
Where did it come from? (Library, purchased, publisher, etc) I was lucky enough to receive a copy from the publisher and I’m extremely grateful!
Any special reason you chose to feature this book? HAHA. YES. It is a fantasy title and it looks 100% bad ass. Fellow bloggers has been raving about it and I trust them completely.
What’s important that we should know about this book? Would you recommend it? I’m in love with the cover? LOL I don’t like to say I will recommend a book unless I’m finished but I’m confident I will be rec’ing this one to a few people 😛
Whatcha drinking? Diet soda
What’s your favorite thing to drink while reading? Generally it will be water or some diet drink. I am not a fan of tea and I only drink coffee in the mornings most of the time.
Favorite beverage of all time. Go! EEP. I guess this would have to be soda. I seriously drink A LOT and I love Pibb Zero and Coke Zero the most. I’m not a Diet Coke fan but I do drink Diet Dr Pepper. I know its not healthy but I still drink water and everyone has a vice. 😛
What are your top three books you would recommend to other people? I’m seriously a broken record when it comes to this list but… Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell, The Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo, and The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson. These books/authors inspire me to collect every edition (I’m getting there!), fictitious future children names, and make me wish I could climb inside the books and hug everyone and I am NOT a hugger.
What’s your proudest blogging/reading/writing moment? Hmm… there are several moments that stick out. Twitter convos with a favorite author (who FOLLOWS me!), a publisher contacting me to review a book that I was going to request, meeting a favorite author and her knowing who I was from our twitter chats, or our blog being mentioned in a book. I love all of them equally. I’m so thankful for getting to be a part of this community and hope for more memories in the future!
Anything else you’d like to share? I took a bit of a unplanned hiatus for a good bit of 2014 last year due to unexpected family obligations. I’m hoping to get back into my blogging habits over the next few months so if you know of a blog or blogger I’m not following and I should be let me know, there is a very good (ok extremely high) chance I’m just out of the loop.
Thanks, Kristina! Of course I LOVE all of your recs 😀
I’m really excited for The Orphan Queen!! I’ve heard nothing but good things and I can’t wait to get to picking this one up!
