Book and a Beverage [113] – Becky from No More Grumpy Bookseller

Book and a Beverage

Welcome back to BOOK AND A BEVERAGE!

In case you don’t know the deal about Book and a Beverage, it’s a very simple yet fun feature: We read books, we drink beverages, we take pictures of them and then I share your photos and a little about you to the blogging world!

Give a big welcome to Becky from No More Grumpy Bookseller!

Name & Blog Name: Becky, No More Grumpy Bookseller
Tell us a little about your blog! After working for six years as a bookseller I left to pursue other lines of work, but I missed being able to talk about the books that I loved! I started reviewing for Bookbitch.com but wanted to add a more personal element to what I was recommending. And so the blog was born. I’ve now been at it for over seven years and still love it!
What’s been your favorite post you’ve written so far? (Link us up!) I don’t know that I have a favorite post per se, but I do love participating in the Top Ten Tuesday meme, especially now that I’ve started using Riffle to create slideshows.
Got anything special coming up we should know about?  I have a ton of giveaways planned, including an MTI edition of Andy Weir’s The Martian, which is an amazing book if you haven’t read it yet. That’ll run on August 18 so be on the look out!

Whatcha reading? The Key by Sara B. Elfgren and Mats Strandberg
Where did it come from? (Library, purchased, publisher, etc): Publisher
Any special reason you chose to feature this book? Of course there’s a special reason I chose to feature it! First of all, it’s a rocking awesome read. Second, it’s translated! I love discovering new authors, especially new authors from other countries. This witchy teen trilogy from Sweden is a perfect example of the fact that there are stellar reads all over the world and that you shouldn’t be afraid of translated works!
What’s important that we should know about this book? Would you recommend it? This is the third and final installment in the fabulous Engelsfors Trilogy (following The Circle and Fire) and you do have to read them in order. I highly, highly recommend the trilogy to anyone who is interested in a great teen paranormal series with truly excellent character development.

beverageWhatcha drinking? A Scooters matcha (green tea) smoothie.
What’s your favorite thing to drink while reading? MIt kind of depends on the time of day and the time of year. Right now I’m all about iced coffee in the morning and iced tea or chilled infused water the rest of the day. In the colder months I need hot drinks to help me defrost from the inside out – coffee milk (aka lattes, I’m from the Deep South) and hot tea – any and all kinds.
Favorite beverage of all time. Go! Iced black tea with mint, hands down.

bonus

What are your top three books you would recommend to other people? For mystery fans: Sue Grafton’s Kinsey Millhone series. I realized how much I nerd out about these books just this week when I started telling someone about the latest (the 24th!) installment, X.
For fans of twisted and dark thrillers: The Devil of Nanking by Mo Hayder. This book scared the pants off of me plus it’s a stand alone, which makes it a great introduction to Hayder’s work.
For fans of odd reads: Sarah Lotz’s Day Four. Obviously this is a recent addition, but she is a phenomenal writer and the book gave me a seriously crazy book hangover.
What’s your proudest blogging/reading/writing moment? I think just getting started in the first place was a big accomplishment for me. Ages ago, in the very early days of blogging (I’m dating myself here), I’d attempted a start but never got off the ground. It was quite a while before I tried again. I think I was more motivated the second time around!
Anything else you’d like to share? Just a BIG, BIG thanks to Brittany for hosting me today! This is such a fun feature and I’ve discovered so many great blogs here. If you stop by the blog for a visit after reading this, be sure to say “Hi!”

Thanks, Becky!! I really must check out your recommended reads! I’ve only read a couple books in the Kinsey Millhone series (I honestly think just A and B) so I should really continue with those! Thank you again for being on the feature!!
