Welcome back to BOOK AND A BEVERAGE!
In case you don’t know the deal about Book and a Beverage, it’s a very simple yet fun feature: We read books, we drink beverages, we take pictures of them and then I share your photos and a little about you to the blogging world!
Give a big welcome to Lynne from Words of Mystery!
Name & Blog Name: Lynne from Words of Mystery
Tell us a little about your blog! My best friend came up with my blog name, and refers to my love of mysteries. However, I read and review more than just mysteries on my blog. In fact I’ve been really picky when it comes to mysteries lately. Also those who know me will know that my other love is contemporary YA fiction.
What’s been your favorite post you’ve written so far? (Link us up!) A while ago, I tried my hand at hosting a month long blog event. It was all about promoting more Asian literature which is I think is important as we really do need more diverse books. If you’re curious, here the link to the schedule which has all the posts I did for the event.
Got anything special coming up we should know about? In addition to blogging, I’m also co-creator of a webcomic called #fakememories which is very loosely based on my daily life. I’m thinking of featuring the comics on my book blog as well to give the web comic more exposure. So let me know if that’s something you guys would want to see.
Whatcha reading? The Year We Fell Apart by Emily Martin
Where did it come from? (Library, purchased, publisher, etc): I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC from the publisher. I love a good YA contemporary novel and I have a soft spot for the whole best-friend-turned-boyfriend romance trope.
Any special reason you chose to feature this book? It’s my current read! I’m always curious as to what others are reading at the moment, and I love sharing my current read with fellow book lovers.
What’s important that we should know about this book? Would you recommend it? It’s the author’s first novel, and it comes out on January 26th, 2016. I’m still reading it, but so far it’s really good and I’d probably recommend it to contemporary lovers.
Whatcha drinking? Organic Detox from David’s Tea, I’m a huge fan of Davids Tea and Organic Detox is usually my go-to tea from there.
What’s your favorite thing to drink while reading? Usually water because it’s convenient.
Favorite beverage of all time. Go! Wow just one? Well in the summer I liked raspberry lemonade and in the winter I love the Candy Cane Hot Chocolate from Tim Hortons. (Sorry that was two, lol)
What are your top three books you would recommend to other people? As of lately it’s been Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan (I have gotten MANY people onto this series), the Lunar Chronicles series by Marissa Meyer, and the Inspector Gamache series by Louise Penny.
What’s your proudest blogging/reading/writing moment? This rarely happens, but when people in real life mention they’ve heard of my blog and have read it and even enjoyed some of my posts. I know I’m far from being a well-known blogger but it makes me happy to know that there are people out there who read what I write.
Anything else you’d like to share? Not really, thank you Brittany for letting be part of this cool feature on your blog. And if anyone would like to connect with me, please feel free to follow me on twitter or tweet me @WordsofMystery.
Thanks, Lynne! HOORAY for The Lunar Chronicles! You know it’s one of my favorites too! ;D
I’m so glad to hear good things about The Year We Fell Apart! I’ve been anxious to read it and I love a good best-friend-turned-boyfriend romance too!!

Yes! I adore the trope of friendship turned romance, hope you enjoy the book as well! And thanks for checking out my web comic, hope you like it.
The cover of The Year We Fell Apart is really cute. I love friendship turned romance stories, so I’ve added this one to my list.
Web comic. Cool! I’ll have to check it out.
Hi, Lynne! As of late, YA contemporary has been my genre of choice as well. I am glad to hear you’re liking The Year We Fell Apart. I’m really excited for that release! Also, I think it’s really cool that you’re advocating for more diversity in books. Major kudos to you, girl!
The Year We Fell Apart is really good and I ended up loving it, and I hope you do too. And thanks for the kudos, I think we should all do our part so that we can get a kinds of stories!
I’m Asian but I hardly read anything Asian inspired. Of course, there’s also literature from my country but I hardly read them as well… is that bad? I think I should start reading and be exposed to them soon…
