Welcome back to BOOK AND A BEVERAGE!
In case you don’t know the deal about Book and a Beverage, it’s a very simple yet fun feature: We read books, we drink beverages, we take pictures of them and then I share your photos and a little about you to the blogging world!
Give a big welcome to Tamara from Shelf Addiction!
Name & Blog Name: Tamara from Shelf Addiction
Tell us a little about your blog! Shelf Addiction is a book review blog geared toward adult readers that love fiction. My motto is: Feeding the book lovers addiction, one book at a time. That’s exactly what I strive to do on the Shelf Addiction website. I read and review adult, new adult and young adult fiction. In addition to book reviews I also review audiobooks. I enjoy a wide variety of genres, so you’ll likely find something you enjoy. I read whatever catches my attention and looks interesting. My blog features book reviews, giveaways, author features, an online book club and more!
What’s been your favorite post you’ve written so far? (Link us up!) I always love putting together my gift guides. Here’s this year’s Christmas guide! Got anything special coming up we should know about? My 4th Blogoversary of Shelf Addiction is coming up in January and I’ll be holding a HUGE giveaway to celebrate! Be sure to stop by my blog and subscribe in some way so that you’ll be notified when the giveaway begins!
Whatcha reading? I’m always reading more than one book at any time! Usually one or two books plus one audiobook so it was hard to mention only one! One of the titles I’m currently reading Blood Kiss (Black Dagger Legacy #1) by J.R. Ward. Friend me on Goodreads to see what else I’m reading right now.
Where did it come from? (Library, purchased, publisher, etc): Blood Kiss is an ebook on my Kindle. I preordered it, so when it released earlier this month it was ready to go!
Any special reason you chose to feature this book? I chose this book because I love J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series. I’ve read all 13 of the BDB books, and now of course, I must read the spin off.
What’s important that we should know about this book? Would you recommend it? If you’re unfamiliar with the BDB series, then you should expect paranormal with a darker feel. 100% adult reading. Lots of vampires, scary and very evil villains, and romance scenes that are bold to say the least. I’d also classify this series as urban fantasy since its set in modern day cities. I recommend it for those that love the paranormal genre. This is also a good choice for those that like the Mercy Thompson series Patricia Briggs or the Night Huntress series Jeanine Frost. If you like those, then you’ll certainly enjoy this.
Whatcha drinking? I am drinking a very nice glass of Cabernet Sauvignon
What’s your favorite thing to drink while reading? My favorite drink depends on my mood. When reading on a Saturday or Sunday morning, I’ll make a yummy homemade latte or a cup of tea (you should see my coffee and tea cabinet, it’s almost as stuffed as my bookshelves). When reading after a long day at work and I want to unwind, I’ll grab a nice glass of red wine or make a Cosmopolitan cocktail.
Favorite beverage of all time. Go! Alcoholic? A Cosmopolitan! I know a perfect Cosmo when I see it and it’s AMAZING! Non-Alcoholic? During the holidays, a Starbucks Gingerbread Latte – it’s so addicting! I could drink it every day if I let myself. On any given day, my favorite is the Starbucks Carmel Macchiato – I usually make my own homemade version at home.
What are your top three books you would recommend to other people? This is a hard one as I don’t claim to have favorites because it’s too much like picking your favorite family member. If you read mostly Young Adult, I recommend the Red Rising Trilogy by Peirce Brown. The final book isn’t out yet, but I seriously loved books one and two and I have high hopes that the finale will meet all my expectations. If you’re not into science fiction, I recommend The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay. It’s deep and serious at times, but it’s also beautiful and well written. For my Adult fiction readers, I recommend all three of the series I mentioned above. If urban fantasy and paranormal aren’t your thing, then check out The Luckiest Girl Alive by Jessica Knoll and The Good Girl by Mary Kubica. Both are stellar suspenseful reads. I know that’s more than three….sorry! I couldn’t help myself.
What’s your proudest blogging/reading/writing moment? I’m very proud to have maintained my blog and BookTube channel for as long as I have. It’s at times hard to balance a 9-5 job, a husband, and my beloved love of reading and still post regularly. While I’m not 100% perfect with my posting schedule, it’s a work in progress and I love doing it! I look forward to many more years of blogging and making videos about books!

I really need to start the Red Rising Trilogy – that’s one of my 2016 goals; get around to more series that I have wanted to read!
