Welcome back to BOOK AND A BEVERAGE!
In case you don’t know the deal about Book and a Beverage, it’s a very simple yet fun feature: We read books, we drink beverages, we take pictures of them and then I share your photos and a little about you to the blogging world!
Give a big welcome to Laura from 125 Pages!
Name & Blog Name: Laura @ 125Pages
Tell us a little about your blog! I have been a lifelong reader and really loved the book blogs I had visited, so a little over a year ago I decided to start my own. I am also somewhat awkward socially and the book blogging community has always been a comfort zone for me, so I though it would be a good way to interact with other like minded bookish folks. I read a wide genre of books and read an average of 6 books a week. My blog’s name comes from a college reading class where they measured our reading speed and I was clocked at 125 pages read an hour 🙂
What’s been your favorite post you’ve written so far? (Link us up!) A post on why all genres matter in reading.
Got anything special coming up we should know about? April is my blogiversary! I have giveaways and guest posts running all month. New guest posts are running every Friday.
Whatcha reading? Every Heart A Doorway by Seanan McGuire
Where did it come from? (Library, purchased, publisher, etc) Publisher via Netgalley
Any special reason you chose to feature this book? This book has a bit of everything! Fantasy, diversity, murder, friendship, longing and hope. I loved every moment of it.
What’s important that we should know about this book? It has all the feels! For a short (174 pages) book, it managed to infuse the entire story with heart and true emotion. Would you recommend it? Yes, I have been pushing it hard on everyone. “Excuse me. do you have a moment to talk about alternate dimensions and the teens who have visited them?”
Whatcha drinking? Decaf mandarin green tea.
What’s your favorite thing to drink while reading? It depends on the time of day I’m reading. I don’t drink coffee but I have one Diet Coke a day so if I’m reading before 2 pm, that’s it. Then water during the rest of the day and usually a cup of tea after 9 pm.
Favorite beverage of all time. Go! That’s easy. Orange Dream Eegees. Eegees is a local restaurant that makes a fruit drink that is amazing and one month a year they have Orange Dream. It takes like an orange creamcicle and is just amazing.
What are your top three books you would recommend to other people? The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner, Simon vs the Homosapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli, and Menagerie by Rachel Vincent
What’s your proudest blogging/reading/writing moment? I have had a lot of amazing moments in this community but my top was that I was recently asked to write a blurb for the cover flap of a book! I am super excited as the author is great and I loved the first in the series. I can’t say who or what book right now, but it’s a July release and as soon as I can share more I will.
Anything else you’d like to share? The bookish community is amazing and I am so grateful for everyone who has stopped by my site, commented, shared advice or just shipped with me. Thank you everyone for being so welcoming!
Thanks so much, Laura! I’m so glad you liked Every Heart A Doorway — it sounded so interesting and I need to pick it up!!
