Welcome back to BOOK AND A BEVERAGE!
In case you don’t know the deal about Book and a Beverage, it’s a very simple yet fun feature: We read books, we drink beverages, we take pictures of them and then I share your photos and a little about you to the blogging world!
Give a big welcome to Zoey from Uncreatively Zoey!
Name & Blog Name: Uncreatively Zoey (sad, I know.)
Tell us a little about your blog! Honestly, my blog has been all over the place. I started it in 2011, I think, and I’ve taken a lot of long hiatuses since then. I really admire the people who have been going at it for 5 straight years!
I blog about primarily YA, of course, and I’m working to fit more cats into my posts because I might love cats more than books. Reviews are honestly my favorite posts to write.
What’s been your favorite post you’ve written so far? (Link us up!) I recently wrote up a post about a bunch of bookish candles. Maybe not the most creative post ever but I LOVE candles and there’s something about a bookish candle that just makes me so much happier than regular candles.
Got anything special coming up we should know about? Currently writing a post entitled “Your Favorite Books as Cats” which features a LOT of cat photos, so, I mean. Do with that what you will.
Whatcha reading? Girl Against the Universe by Paula Stokes.
Where did it come from? (Library, purchased, publisher, etc): I traded with a friend for it!
Any special reason you chose to feature this book? I’ve been a lot more into contemporaries lately, particularly because they tend to feature less misery and death and I’ve just really wanted some happier books lately. Plus, I really love how colorful the cover is – orange might be my least favorite color but all my books are so dark!
What’s important that we should know about this book? Would you recommend it? I’m only about 100 pages into it but I would definitely recommend it. Maguire is in therapy, trying to deal with guilt and life and trying to heal. It’s fantastic without being super sad and depressing.
Whatcha drinking? It was SUPPOSED to be a Starbucks doubleshot energy drink. I make coffee every morning but for the days when I’m really exhausted (which is more days than it should be) I’ll drink one of these when I get back from work so I don’t fall asleep at like 5pm. BUT I forgot to go to the store so here’s regular coffee.
What’s your favorite thing to drink while reading? You know what? Shakes. Any shake. Even a smoothie. I never really drink them which is probably why it’s my answer. They’re just sweet and have a lot of flavor and help focus me on what I’m reading a little more!
Favorite beverage of all time. Go! I’m super lame and just have to say straight-up coffee (with a little French Vanilla creamer). I’d say the Starbucks S’mores Frappuccino, which I LOVE, but I don’t drink it often enough to call it a favorite. All I really drink is water and coffee!
What are your top three books you would recommend to other people? SIX OF CROWS by Leigh Bardugo, THE SUMMER OF CHASING MERMAIDS by Sarah Ockler, and INCARNATE by Jodi Meadows.
What’s your proudest blogging/reading/writing moment? Yikes, this is hard. Maybe just 2011 when I actually finished my Goodreads goal and read 110 books? I don’t take my GR goals too seriously anymore just because if I did it would make me miserable, but that was pretty cool.
Anything else you’d like to share? Thanks so much to Brittany for having me! I love any excuse to drink extra coffee.
Thanks, Zoey! I mean, I’m NEVER opposed to posts about candles ;D And omg, books as cats. I already love it. I can’t wait to see those posts!
