Welcome back to BOOK AND A BEVERAGE!
In case you don’t know the deal about Book and a Beverage, it’s a very simple yet fun feature: We read books, we drink beverages, we take pictures of them and then I share your photos and a little about you to the blogging world!
Give a big welcome to Emily from Emily Reads Everything!
Name & Blog Name: Emily from Emily Reads Everything
Tell us a little about your blog! I blog about ya and adult books. I love fantasy, sci fi, horror and romance, so I review a mix of books. I also love Independent authors and feature a different Independent book every Friday. I’ve found some of my favorite books this way! I also have a contributor, Kendice, who has added so much to my blog since she started. She’s a teacher like I am and she is very passionate about diverse reads for her students. I love showcasing her input and her viewpoint.
Blogging is one of the best things to ever happen to me. I’ve only been blogging 18 months, which seems unreal to me. I’ve done so much during that time. My life and my priorities have completely changed and I’ve met some of my best friends.
What’s been your favorite post you’ve written so far? My favorite posts to write are my #BHPChat wrap ups! Once a month, on the last Tuesday, I do a twitter chat with @thebooktraveler where we celebrate bloggers. Then the next day, I post a chat highlight reel. They are always a ton of fun to put together and I try to capture some of the best parts of the chats. You should join us December 27th for the next one!
Got anything special coming up we should know about? Right now, I’m giving away 2 indie books every day for 12 days on my blog! #indiemas is an opportunity for me to celebrate Independent authors and their books that I read this year. Go enter my 12 days of giveaways!
Starting in January, I’m also participating in the Dumbledore’s Army Readathon from Read at Midnight. It’s all about reading Diverse books. I love how she created 7 distinct reading prompts to drive what books I picked.
Whatcha reading? I’m currently reading The Ultimate Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
Where did it come from? (Library, purchased, publisher, etc) My husband bought this book for me when we were first married.
Any special reason you chose to feature this book? This book is special to me because I’ve loved it for as long as I can remember. I remember reading it for the first time in Elementary school. Arthur and Ford fostered my love of Science Fiction and shaped my twisted sense of humor. Then when I met my husband, I found that he loves it too!
What’s important that we should know about this book? Would you recommend it? This book has crazy British humor. It’s dry and hilarious. I’ve read this book so many times I have everything memorized. I would definitely recommend it.
Whatcha drinking? Craft cream soda! I love craft root beer and cream sodas and I’m always looking for new ones to try.
What’s your favorite thing to drink while reading? When I asked my husband this, he said water because I’m boring! Unfortunately, he’s probably right. I have a big cup of water with me almost all the time. I tuck it next to me on the couch while I’m reading, so it’s always available. I’ve also have developed a love of unsweet iced tea in the last year! Maybe I am boring.
Favorite beverage of all time. Go! I have a terrible addiction to Coke Slurpees! I don’t drink them much anymore but I love them!
What are your top three books you would recommend to other people? Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo for people who want action, adventure and a beautifully broken heart
Reliquary by Sarah Fine for soft hearted people that like their romance a little gritty
The Island by S. Usher Evans for absolutely everyone
What’s your proudest blogging/reading/writing moment? When I met an author at a signing and she recognized my name. I thought she was just being nice!
Anything else you’d like to share? I want to thank Brittany, Amy and Alyssa for hosting #OTSPSecretSister which is a bear of a job that they handle with care and grace publicly… and I’m sure a lot of expletives in private. The community is better because of you.
Thanks, Emily!!! Oh my gosh, craft root beer and cream soda sound delicious!!! And I just love your book recommendations! And of course, thank you for the Secret Sister shout out! It always means the world to us.

Hello, Emily! I love that you’re reading a book that your husband gave you when you were first married (great book, BTW). I still remember the very first book my husband ever bought me: The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield. I always remember when people buy me books: who and what they gave me. Nice to meet you!
