Welcome back to BOOK AND A BEVERAGE!
In case you don’t know the deal about Book and a Beverage, it’s a very simple yet fun feature: We read books, we drink beverages, we take pictures of them and then I share your photos and a little about you to the blogging world!
Give a big welcome to Dominique at Pirates and Pixie Dust!
Name & Blog Name: Hi! I’m Dominique at Pirates and Pixie Dust
Tell us a little about your blog! I love booooooooks! I want to talk about them nonstop, and then somebody gave me access to a camera and the internet. My book blog was born because my Bookstagram captions were getting annoyingly long. Now my book reviews and readathon posts have a proper place to live!
What’s been your favorite post you’ve written so far? My favorite post was actually originally a guest post. I loved it so much it inspired a bookish meme. In it, I compared one of my favorite book series to songs.
Got anything special coming up we should know about? Well, that bookish meme I just mentioned! This will be its first week!
Whatcha reading? I’m reading three books right now! The book I’m reading from the library is Wayfarer by Alexandra Bracken, the e-book is Chameleon Moon by Roanna Sylver, and the book I already own is A Darker Shade of Magic by VE Schwab.
Where did it come from? (Library, purchased, publisher, etc) I received A Darker Shade of Magic for Christmas! I already own the US hardcover edition, but I’m sort of obsessed. My husband noticed and bought me the entire series in the UK paperback edition!
Any special reason you chose to feature this book? The third book, A Conjuring of Light, is coming out in less than a month on February 21!
What’s important that we should know about this book? Would you recommend it? Oh, this series. I just love it, okay? The world is captivating, the characters are raw and real, and tattoos are being planned (or is that last one just me?). Oh, I definitely recommend it!
Whatcha drinking? Caffeine. I’m drinking something with caffeine.
What’s your favorite thing to drink while reading? Not water. Because why have water when I could have caffeine? Lately I’ve been drinking either vanilla chai with a splash of honey, or a cinnamon honey latte.
Favorite beverage of all time. Go! Chai Tea Latte. Boom. No questions. Moving on…
What are your top three books you would recommend to other people? O*whispers* A Darker Shade of Magic….. Okay, but that’s already been mentioned. Hmmm. I’m *still* convincing friends to read Harry Potter (no, really), and I’ve been recommending Black by Ted Dekker for about ten years. It’s book one of the Circle Saga, one of my all time favorites.
What’s your proudest blogging/reading/writing moment? Oh, when I finally caved and tried out an audio book! My first one was *drumroll please* …… about magic. in a darker shade. (Are you sick of that book dominating my conversation yet? I promise my blog talks about other books too!) But honestly, I had no idea that I could read and still be able to drive or shower or wash dishes or go for a run AT THE SAME TIME. My life has been changed!
Anything else you’d like to share? This past year I discovered a local independent bookstore, and it’s become one of my favorite places. You should find out if there’s one in your area too!
Thanks, Dominque! YES! I love hearing when other people discover audiobooks. I totally didn’t think I would enjoy them and now I’m totally obsessed!

I’ve been dying to read AGOS but somehow all the BNs near me are sold out. Conspiracy I say.
Eep! That’s me! Thank you so much for hosting, Brittany!
