Fierce Reads Tour 2012 – Chicago area recap!

Guys, I had sooo much fun at the Fierce Reads Tour even in Naperville tonight! This happened to be my first event that I have attended as a book nerd/blogger and I had a blast! Let me start off by saying that the four ladies that were a part of this tour were a hoot! They were so much fun, a little bit silly, and really inspiring. I haven’t gotten to meet many authors before and I was kind of in awe to meet people who have really made their dreams happen.

So in preparation (and of course, for future reading!) I purchased Struck by Jennifer Bosworth and Monument 14 by Emmy Laybourne. After seeing all the authors in all of their glory, I also can’t wait to go pick up a copy of Of Poseidon by Anna Banks and Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo (and that covers all of our featured authors)!

They all started off with book trailers before they introduced their books and some were simple and descriptive, but holy crap – Struck was like a full-on movie trailer, and let me tell you guys – It literally gave me goosebumps. I’m soooo glad I bought this one and I cannot wait to read it now! Once I’m finished with the book I’m currently reading, seriously, I’m starting that one next.

Right off the bat, Anna Banks was just flat out hilarious. She’s got an amazing knack for sarcasm and deadpan humor which I LOVE. Even while Emmy was talking about her book first, Anna had reactions for everything and she just cracked me up the whole session. Leigh was quite a blast as well – She made us all laugh a few times and seemed really outgoing, as well as Emmy. Jennifer seemed a little more on the quiet side, but then again we also have to take into account the very busy schedule these great authors have been on with the tour so far – I’m sure they’re all beat and ready to collapse!

Then a little Q&A time along with some advice for future writers – And I really did get some inspiration from these ladies! As much as I’ve always wanted to write something, I can never come up with a plot. I just don’t have any good stories to start something more than a page or two. Maybe this is a little kick in the pants to just start trying things – If even just for myself – and put some words out there. Who knows what it’ll become!

Then it was book signin’ time and I got some nice treasures here! Also a couple quick chats with the authors which was pretty neat as well.

SORRY to the fellow bloggers who I failed to say hi to. I was so damn SHY. I didn’t know how to just jump in a stranger’s conversation and I don’t even think they knew I was a blogger. Fail 🙁 But maybe I’ll be able to find some of them and we can be friends after the fact!

Okay, now time for some sleep so I can keep on blogging another day!

I’m so jealous! Sounds like you had a blast. I also loved the Struck book trailer and posted it to my blog recently, one of the most awesome book trailers EVER.

Oh yay! Glad you had fun at the tour; wish it was coming closer to my hometown!!! And totally get you about being shy. I don’t know how well I’d do walking up to someone and saying “Hi, I’m a blogger.” 🙂
