Welcome back to BOOK AND A BEVERAGE!
In case you don’t know the deal about Book and a Beverage, it’s a very simple yet fun feature: We read books, we drink beverages, we take pictures of them and then I share your photos and a little about you to the blogging world!
Give a big welcome to Alice-Jane from Crazy Red Pen!
Name & Blog Name: Alice-Jane from Crazy Red Pen
Tell us a little about your blog! I started my blog on a whim back in 2009 and I’m still at it. My reading tastes have changed throughout the years and right now it’s a mix of YA with adult fiction.
What’s been your favorite post you’ve written so far? (Link us up!) This Buzzfeed-style GIF post about the annoying things that happen in books and when you’re reading them.
Got anything special coming up we should know about? Nope, but I can’t say for sure. 😉
Whatcha reading? I’m reading three books, Erased by Jennifer Rush, Where’d You Go Bernadette by Maria Semple and Knitting by Design by Emma Robertson.
Where did it come from? (Library, purchased, publisher, etc) A mixture of purchased and publisher
Any special reason you chose to feature this book? I have a weakness for DIYs and good books. I’ve heard wonderful things about all three books and I’m excited to see if I enjoy them as well.
What’s important that we should know about this book? Would you recommend it? Knitting by Design is by one of my favorite graphic design bloggers and I’ve always wanted to learn how to knit things. I’d probably save some money in the winter since the winters are so cold. Where’d You Go Bernadette is an epistolary novel, which means that it’s written in the forms of letters. Haven’t read something like that since Cathy’s Book which was like, what, six years ago? I actually haven’t read Altered, which is the book before Erased but so far, Erased is quite interesting and I don’t feel like I’m missing too much by not reading the first book.
Whatcha drinking? Runa mint guayusa tea- It’s tea made from Amazonian tree leaves and it apparently has a lot of caffeine. I got some from a campus event a while ago and needless to say, it’s perfect for finals week or any other time that you need to be awake.
What’s your favorite thing to drink while reading? Usually water but sometimes green tea. I can’t drink anything that stains (ie coffee) when I read because I have a fear of staining the book as well.
Favorite beverage of all time. Go! Green tea! I’m a huge fan of Starbuck’s green tea frap.
What are your top three books you would recommend to other people? Roomies by Sara Zarr and Tara Altebrando (perfect book about roommates and college!), Pride and Prejudice because I love Jane Austen, and Libba Bray’s A Great and Terrible Beauty, which is hands down my one of my favorite books ever since I first read it.
What’s your proudest blogging/reading/writing moment? Starting a blog. Does that count? I love getting to know new people and being a part of such a great community.
Anything else you’d like to share? No, but I want to say thanks to Brittany for letting me be a part of this awesome feature! 🙂
Thanks, Alice-Jane! I’m always worried about staining my books too (and I have) but better drink than food, I think! Thanks so much for being a part of Book and a Beverage!!

I really need to buy some of that tea. I love tea, but one with lots of caffeine? Yes please!
Thanks for letting me be a part of Book and a Beverage, Brittany! It was so much fun answering these questions! ^^
