Book and a Beverage

Welcome back to BOOK AND A BEVERAGE!

In case you don’t know the deal about Book and a Beverage, it’s a very simple yet fun feature: We read books, we drink beverages, we take pictures of them and then I share your photos and a little about you to the blogging world!

Give a big welcome to
Kailia from Reading the Best of the Best!

(Kailia is on vacation this week so she wasn’t able to send a photo but wishing her the best time on vacation! You’ll just have to use your imagination!)

Name & Blog Name: Kailia from Reading the Best of the Best
Tell us a little about your blog! Well, I started this blog in September of 2009 and I had no idea what I was doing or getting myself into. In the beginning it was loads of memes and occasional reviews. I’m a lot better with my reviews now and I actually know what I want to write about. I read and review young adult and adult books but I will occasionally review a middle grade novel. I love having a good discussion post and actually having conversation about it.
What’s been your favorite post you’ve written so far? (Link us up!) Oh gosh. Let’s just be real: I am my worst critic. I like some of the posts I’ve written but I always find some fault in them. It’s something I’m working on. But I guess my favorite thus far was my I Need a Man to Make Me Happy…Not. It was one of the most honest posts I’ve written where I didn’t sugar coat my feelings.
Got anything special coming up we should know about? Nothing special at the moment as I’m currently on vacation but I am planning something coming this winter. It’s Harry Potter related so I can’t wait to share it.

Whatcha reading? Rose Under Fire by Elizabeth Wein
Where did it come from? (Library, purchased, publisher, etc) Honestly, I think my family gifted it to me.
Any special reason you chose to feature this book? I was searching for something to read on my Kindle and came across the book. I LOVED Elizabeth Wein’s Code Name Verity and I just happened to be reading this book at the moment.
What’s important that we should know about this book? Would you recommend it? I think like Code Name Verity, this book is going to be slow to start and take time to get into. I know with CNV that was a big issue for people but I have a feeling that this book will be just as amazing. I have to say I’d recommend it even though I haven’t finished it. I love historical fiction but I feel as though this is a gem for anyone who loves a book about amazing characters and a plot that not only makes you think and feel but allows you to see the world in a different way.

Whatcha drinking? Green Tea! I recently fell in love with Green Tea and I’ve been drinking it non-stop. And as an added bonus, it’s really good for you!
What’s your favorite thing to drink while reading? Usually I just like a large glass of ice cold water. That way, if it spills anywhere (I like to read on my bed), it’s not really a big deal 🙂
Favorite beverage of all time. Go! Coca-Cola! Or Coke as I like to call it. What can I say? I grew up in Atlanta.

What are your top three books you would recommend to other people? Oh gosh. Just three books? Well, here goes nothing: Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta, Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein, and The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen and everything by J.K. Rowling and so many other authors out there!
What’s your proudest blogging/reading/writing moment?
Oh gosh I don’t even know! I think just the fact that I’ve blogged for as long as I have and the fact that I haven’t given up on blogging. I’ve come to understand the type of books I like to read and my writing has vastly improved.
Anything else you’d like to share?
