Top Ten Tuesday – September 16, 2014: Top Authors I’ve Only Read One Book From But NEED to Read More

TTT

It’s Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by the wonderful blog at The Broke and the Bookish! This week’s topic: Top Authors I’ve Only Read One Book From But NEED to Read More

What a fun topic this week! There are PLENTY of authors who I have only read one book from and I’m just kicking myself for not reading more from them yet… But what can I say! Book bloggers have busy schedules haha! 🙂 Anyway, these were some easy choices for me because there are tons of authors I just can’t get enough of and still somehow have only read one book by them so far!

SERIES THAT HAVE BEEN OUT

BRANDONsanderson marielu alexbrackenTAMARAirelandstone

So these are the authors whose books/series have been out and for some reason I’ve only read the first book so far! To be fair, a couple of these I was late to the game on (Mistborn, Legend) and others I read ARCs of (The Darkest Minds, Time Between Us) but still haven’t caught up with the rest of the series! So many books, so little time, right?

GOT INTO THIS AUTHOR IN LATER BOOKS

I didn’t get into these authors until they already had quiet a few books out! I really enjoyed Heist Society, but I have yet to read the rest of the series and Ally Carter’s other series as well! I also enjoyed The Winner’s Curse and really want to go back to check out some of Marie Rutkoski’s other books as well. I’ve heard great things about Rick Yancey’s other books too but still have only read The 5th Wave (though soon to be starting the next book in that series too)!

NEW BOOKS CAME OUT RECENTLY

jandynelson

I’ve had my ARC of I’ll Give You The Sun since BEA but still haven’t picked it up! I loved The Sky is Everywhere so this is one I REALLY need to get to soon!

ONLY ONE BOOK SO FAR *WAITS (IM)PATIENTLY*

EMERYlord katjamillay lizczukas

So far these authors only have one book out SO FAR but I’m … well, TRYING to be patient for more! I loved their first books and am just so excited for future works from them!

So many books, so little time, right? But I’m working hard on catching up on all of these authors’ works! Which ones should I start with first?

I’m a big fan of the Monstrumologist series, though I can see why it isn’t as universally popular as 5th Wave. Honestly, there isn’t a single likable character in the series, which is hard for readers who are really character driven. The storytelling is awesome though, and the horrible people are a bit fascinating…I still need to read 5th Wave! (I’ve owned it for well over a year now….)

Great list! We agree on so many! I’m dying for The Winner’s Crime and I hope to read Shadow Society soon. The Start of Me and You, Top Ten Clues You’re Clueless, and Katja Millay’s next (whatever that is…) are/will be on my radar for sure. I hope you enjoy I’ll Give You the Sun when you get to it, B!

I’ve only read the first Legend book, but I plan on finishing the trilogy soon. You have a ton of authors I do want to give a try like Brandon Sanderson, Rick Yancey, Emery Lord, and Liz Czukas. Thanks for sharing!

Marie Lu!!!!! I freaking love her and I am DYING to read The Young Elites!!! Legend is my favorite dystopian series ever. And I definitely need to read more Marie Rutkoski. The Winner’s Curse was amazing!! And Rick Yancey. Although I’ve heard not so good things about The Infinite Sea… 🙁

I’ve only read books by a few of these authors. But I have already read Liz Czukas’s second book (Top Ten Clues You’re Clueless) and it is TOTALLY ADORABLE! I liked it even more than Ask Again Later, and I liked that one a whole lot.

You need to read I’ll Give You the Sun first!! That gets my vote. I also have Marie Rutkoski on my list to go back and read some of her other books and Emery Lord because I loved Open Road Summer so much! I loved Ask Again Later and am hoping Top Ten Clues You’re Clueless will be just as fun! Does Katja Millay have another book coming out?!?!?! I would love to read more from her!

Alexandra Bracken is on my list too, as is Jandy Nelson. I have had Jandy’s book since BEA yet I haven’t brought myself to actually read it. And Bracken’s book I have had since like last year. Bad Andi.

    Great list Brittany!

I’m with you on Marie Lu and Tamara Ireland Stone, for the same reasons. I’m late to reading their books and there is just no time to keep up with it all. I’m reading The 5th Wave now and, as I’m sure everybody else knows already… SO GOOD. I’ll need more Rick Yancey in my life ASAP.

Oh! Katja Millay. Gosh, the Sea of Tranquility changed the reading game for me. So unbelievably good. I’m really hoping there is a long list of books from her in the very near future because her words are stunning.

    Great list!

Oh, God. I totally forgot about Katja! I loved Sea of Tranquillity and for some reason never thought to check out any of her other stuff. Does she have anything else released? I’m totally going to GR stalk her now
