TOP TEN TUESDAY
December 23, 2014

It’s Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by the wonderful blog at The Broke and the Bookish! This week’s topic: Top Ten Books I Wouldn’t Mind Santa Bringing This Year

I have been SO fortunate to have such wonderful friends who have gifted me such wonderful books. (That and the fact that I can’t stop buying them.) So what am I asked Santa for this year? All of the REALLY HARD TO FIND ONES. Come on Santa, let’s see your magic!

1

I’m a collector of a few favorite series and The Grisha Trilogy is one! Aside from foreign editions, all I’m really missing from my collection is an ARC of Shadow and Bone! I was barely blogging when the book came out so I didn’t even know what ARCs were then much less qualifying for one getting sent to me! I’m still on the hunt for an ARC to add to my collection!

2

The Lunar Chronicles is the other major series that I’m obsessively collecting and now that I have all of the possible American editions (from paperbacks to hardcovers to ARCs) and the Spanish editions, I’ve become even more obsessed and I just want to collect MORE! Plus, have you SEEN some of the international covers? They are just gorgeous! (I pinned some to my Lunar Chronicles-designated Pinterest board!

3

Well, I actually don’t even own all of the hardcovers yet, so maybe I should ask for those first. I had the paperbacks of 1, 2 & 3 and the hardcovers of 4, 5, 6, & 7 but now I am only missing #2 in hardcover. Anyway. I bought myself that cool set of paperbacks with Hogwarts on the spines and now I just want to collect EVEN MORE (see a pattern? It’s addicting)!

4

Can we ask Santa to work his magic to grab me a copy of Six of Crows!? Leigh Bardugo’s new Grisha-based series comes out in October of 2015 (OMGGGGG it’s kind of far yet seems SO CLOSE) and especially with a description like “Ocean’s 11 meets Game of Thrones” well I am just dying. How soon is too soon to request an ARC…? (Come on, Santa!)

5

If I’m asking for pre-release books (that the author may not even be done writing), let’s add Winter in there too! Going with the Lunar Chronicles/Grisha-obsession theme here, I’m pining for the final book in TLC and I cannot WAIT to read it. I’m scared but excited and I know there will be no ARCs so unless some serious Santa magic happens, I am just waiting until its release date like everyone else! (Happily but anxiously)

6

I started out borrowing audiobooks from the library but I live in a smallish town and they don’t have a HUGE selection of audiobooks. I signed up for Audible but sometimes two credits a month would be helpful instead of just one! (Or maybe I just need to listen to longer books to stretch that one out!)

7

More special editions, I know, I know. But the special editions of Fangirl! I actually still need the hardcover (oops. I have two personalized ARCs so I haven’t bought a physical copy YET) but I also definitely want the gorgeous UK special edition and the new Fangirl special editions that are being released to celebrate the upcoming Carry On!

10

I mean, if Santa can really do all this, let’s get a hold of more unreleased books, right? Right? No, just being greedy? Okay.

There are so many books on my wishlist but I’m only asking Santa for help on the tough ones! Lots of special requests and things I all intend to own someday! But if Santa won’t bring them, I will work on it slowly but surely 😀

I love your unique list! I wish I owned a Fangirl special edition. Those are too awesome for words. I also wouldn’t mind reading all the unpublished books! lol It’s okay to be a little greedy… right? I hope you got some good bookish gifts this year!

  2. Nicole @ The Quiet Concert

hahah love your list. Six of Crows and Winter would definitely make for some epic Christmas presents. And I totally agree on the Audible front. I read so many audiobooks that one credit per month just doesn’t do it for me.

I hope you had a very Merry Christmas and you were able to get some of your more reasonable requests 😉

  3. Danielle @ Love at First Page

Haha, I love this list! I love that your choices are outside of the (gift)box (haha). I would die if I got Winter for Christmas – just think, it was supposed to be coming out in the next couple of months. D: Waaahhh. ANYWAY. I hope you have a fabulous Christmas, darling! <3

I AM SOOO IN NEED OF SIX OF CROWS! October 2015 is sooo far away. If I read a book that’s compared to Ocean’s 11, I HAVE TO READ IT. I am a sucker for those because found family + heists! MY FACE. How are we supposed to wait???

  5. Quinn @ Quinn's Book Nook

I have two credits a month from Audible and I love it! Sometimes I don’t use them a lot and they build up, which I love, so that when I find a whole bunch I want to listen to I don’t have to wait for them at the library.

I would love the Fangirl special edition too. And of course Winter!

SIX OF CROWS!! I haven’t thought about it recently since the end of the Grisha trilogy, but you just reminded me and IF ONLY it could show up under the tree…*sighs* That’s so cool how you collect all of the different editions of the series. I am sort of doing something like that with Harry Potter… Although I’m slowly accumulating the new editions and the French ones. Great list! 🙂

  7. Hollie

I’m always telling everyone who’ll listen to me that I need more editions of the Harry Potter series, I really don’t think you can have enough when it comes to those books!

  8. Charlotte

Great list! I looked at your Pinterest board for the Lunar Chronicles too- so many pretty covers I can totally see why you want to collect them all. I haven’t even read any of that series yet. I’m a bit wary of sci-fi.

  9. Cristina @ Girl in the Pages

The foreign editions of the Lunar Chronicles are insanely beautiful and haunting…my favorites are the ones from Spain! I still need to purchase a copy of Fangirl and I’m hoping to wait to get my hands on a special edition as well! Creative list!
