Welcome back to BOOK AND A BEVERAGE!
In case you don’t know the deal about Book and a Beverage, it’s a very simple yet fun feature: We read books, we drink beverages, we take pictures of them and then I share your photos and a little about you to the blogging world!
Give a big welcome to Sarah from What Sarah Read!
Name & Blog Name: Sarah at What Sarah Read
Tell us a little about your blog! My name is Sarah and I’m currently living in the mountains of Northern New England…where the winters are long and the summers are entirely too short. I’ll be moving back to Boston sometime this year though and I am beside myself with excitement!I’ve been blogging for about 9 months now and have loved every second of it. I was inspired by some book bloggers I befriended on Twitter around this time last year, and they were super encouraging of my desire to start a blog. I was totally nervous and intimidated at first, but they showed me a LOT of love and I finally felt confident to strike out on my own.
What’s been your favorite post you’ve written so far? Hmmm…I don’t know that I have a favorite post…yet! Don’t get me wrong, I love my work, but I think I’m still waiting for that GREAT idea to put into blog form. I am pretty proud of my recent review of “I’ll Meet You There” since I put so much of my heart into it. I also loved organizing my Home for the Holidays feature back in December. It was such an amazing experience to work with so many wonderful bloggers and really put me in the holiday spirit!
Got anything special coming up we should know about? I’ll be debuting a new and improved Fangirl Friday on Friday, March 6th. This weekly feature has been a fun opportunity for me to gush about things that I’m obsessed with or things that I’ve always been a fan of. I recently decided to open it up to other bloggers, authors, readers, etc. as a way to spread the fangirl love!
I also have a very special post coming up the first week in March that I’m hoping everyone will love. I think it’s going to be a lot of fun! Oh…I may also be cooking something up with Kristina from Gone Pecan. You’re just going to have to stay tuned!
Whatcha reading? After lots of book bullying (wink wink), I started The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson this past weekend. So many of my book buddies were insisting that I read it immediately, so I had to do it. I am SO glad I listened to them!
Where did it come from? (Library, purchased, publisher, etc): I actually won a copy of The Kiss of Deception AGES ago as part of a large giveaway hosted by the folks at Fierce Reads. I got a TON of amazing books and am kind of ashamed it took me this long to get to it.
Any special reason you chose to feature this book? I wanted to feature The Kiss of Deception because I can already tell it’s going to be a new favorite of mine. I love that feeling when you’re reading a book, and you just know when you finish with it that it will go on your favorites shelf! I may have already cleared a spot!
What’s important that we should know about this book? Would you recommend it? I adore fantasy novels that feature a young woman who is brave enough to make tough choices and strong enough to go her own way. As I write this, I’m about halfway through The Kiss of Deception and am really loving Lia’s story and character arc. I would recommend it to anyone that enjoys fantasy YA that’s filled with lots of world-building, mystery and character development.
Whatcha drinking? Since it’s sooooo cold today, -5 to be exact, I decided to brew up a mug of my very favorite tea! It’s Tazo Herbal Tea in my favorite flavor …Passion! It’s so fruity and tarty, and totally reminds me of summer since I drink it as iced tea constantly in the warmer months! I’m doing whatever I can these days to trick my brain into thinking summer is right around the corner.
What’s your favorite thing to drink while reading? I normally drink water since I do most of my reading right before I go to bed. If I drink ANYTHING with sugar in it close to bedtime, it’s a guarantee that I’ll be up all night.
Favorite beverage of all time. Go! I hate even saying this, since I’ve been trying to kick my addiction for YEARS, but my favorite beverage of all time is Diet Coke. Lately, I’ve been drinking one a day which is a vast improvement on what I used to drink (three or four a day) but I still can’t manage to let go of the habit. Diet Coke…I wish I knew how to quit you!
What are your top three books you would recommend to other people? Oh wow…this is actually a really hard question! There are so many books out there that I would happily recommend. But if I have to narrow it down to three, I would choose: Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas: because it’s the first book in an epic series that will change your life. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell: It’s the perfect, swoony book filled with the yummiest of moments. I’ll Meet You There by Heather Demetrios: One of my all-time favorite books…ever! Like, in the history of time!
What’s your proudest blogging/reading/writing moment? I’d say that this first year in general has filled me with such pride. When I started my blog back in May of 2014, I had no expectations of where it would take me. I just wanted to find a way to connect with other book lovers and read some amazing books. I’m pretty proud of how far I’ve come since then.
As I get closer and closer to my one year anniversary, I find myself reflecting most on the amazing people I have met. I am constantly touched by the generosity and kindness from all of the bloggers, authors, readers and publicists I have met along the way. It’s why I continue to be so passionate about blogging and why I love it so much. The experiences I have had are irreplaceable!
Anything else you’d like to share? I’m already SUPER excited to start planning my very first trip to BEA this spring! Love! I bought Kiss of Deception on release day and still haven’t read it yet but I really really want to! I’m glad you loved it Sarah, that definitely makes me want to start it sooner! And that mug is SO CUTE! I’m not an herbal tea drinker but I love Tazo black tea and their chai concentrate- it’s almost as good as going to Starbucks 🙂 Omg I used to drink 3 regular (or Vanilla) Cokes a day! I’m proud I’m down to one also hahah. So glad you started your blog, it’s fab and I loved being part of Home for the Holidays <3
Thank you so much for having me on your wonderful blog today Brittany! I had such a fun time writing up this post and am so thrilled to be able to share it with all of your readers! {hugs}
Sarah you are just the cutest. I can’t wait to hear your BEA play by play when you go!
Noooo…YOU are the cutest! {hugs}
Hi Sarah! Nice to ‘meet you’! I just finished Throne of Glass last weekend; I can’t wait to pick up the next in the series. I’ll have to check out both your book (and your tea! yum!) really soon!
Hi Alyssa – so nice to meet you too. Thanks so much for reading! I’m so excited to be on Brittany’s blog today sharing my book nerd obsessions! Hope you love the rest of the ToG series!
SARAH. I adore you and your fangirlishness. I can’t wait to meet you at BEA. CANNOT WAIT.
B, I love this Books and a Beverage! I hate that it has taken me such a long time to get back around to your blog but OMG look what a day that I picked – I’m so glad that this is the post that I’m reading.
xo to you BOTH.
ASHELEY….thank you so much for reading! I AM SOOOO excited to meet you at BEA! It’s going to be so amazing!
Oh, how fun. I haven’t read a Book and a Beverage post in quite some time. But I’m making a valiant blogging effort these days so I decided to drop in.
Sarah sounds fantastic and I’m definitely checking out her blog. This makes me think about my first year of blogging and how exciting EVERYTHING is about this community. And then getting ready for my first BEA. I’m very reminiscent / nostalgic reading this.
The Kiss of Deception has been floating around my radar but I haven’t been chomping at the bit to read it… until now. I’m off to B&N this afternoon to pick it up for sure! Thanks for bringing it to my fullest attention.
Hey Jessie – thank you SO much for your kind words! So glad you liked my post today and look forward to your visits to my blog. So excited to hear you’ll be getting a copy of The Kiss of Deception! I hope you LOVE it!
I’ve always wanted to love tea but have just never managed. Iced tea flavored with some spiced cider is the closest I get. The cover of this book is lovely, and the story sounds interesting. I’ve sent a sample to my Kindle. Thanks!
Yay…so glaf you downloaded a sample! I hope you love it!
