Name & Blog Name: Hi! I’m Anne from Books Baking and Blogging.
Tell us a little about your blog! The name is kind of self-explanatory, really! I blog about books and baking, which are two of my favourite things. I started my blog in October 2013 after having thought about doing so for a looong time. I’ve had blogs before, but they all died within a few months because of my short attention span, but then I started blogging on Books Baking and Blogging and absolutely adored it! I still love it as much as when I started, possibly more. I post recipes, book reviews, other book-related things and some life-related stuff every now and again as well, and do so twice a week.
What’s been your favorite post you’ve written so far? (Link us up!) Oh, this is so hard! How can you make me choose between my babies?! I think my favourite book review is the one I wrote about The Book Thief, but there are so many more posts that I was really proud of. I really enjoyed writing this post I wrote earlier this year on judging a genre by its cover. The post I’m most proud of (by far) is quite an off topic one, though. It’s about mental illness, and I wrote it after Robin Williams passed away last year. I got a lot of really great and sweet responses to that one, which warmed my heart!
Got anything special coming up we should know about? Nope, not really, to be honest! I’ve been in the middle of writing my bachelor thesis, so I haven’t had all that much time to blog. It’s gotten me all excited to get back to blogging, though, which should have a nice effect on my posts, I should hope!

Whatcha reading?
I’m reading The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton
Where did it come from? (Library, purchased, publisher, etc): I borrowed it from my Mum! She got it for her birthday last year, and I’ve been wanting to get my hands on it ever since.
Any special reason you chose to feature this book? Well, I’ve been reading it for a few weeks now because it’s such a HUGE novel, so there’s that. Plus, I’m a member of a literary student association in my home town in the Netherlands, and Eleanor Catton is coming to give a talk kind of thing this Tuesday (which is two days before this gets posted), which is very exciting! It’s going to be quite a race to finish reading it before then, though…
What’s important that we should know about this book? Would you recommend it? First of all, it’s big. Seriously, don’t try to read this if you’ve got commitment issues, because it’s 850 pages with a lot of text on it. That being said, I love it so far! Despite the at times somewhat archaic writing style it’s quite a page turner, and the story is really intriguing. I’ve just passed the 500 page mark, and I’m definitely not bored yet.

beverageWhatcha drinking? Tea, my friend. Always tea. To be more specific; a green tea with lemon Melissa.
What’s your favorite thing to drink while reading? Again; tea! I go through quite a lot of tea on a day, and I often make myself a cup of tea before sitting down with a book.
Favorite beverage of all time. Go! Hmm… Non-alcoholic? Tea. (This is getting a bit boring, I’m afraid). As for alcoholic beverages, I think I have to go for a mojito cocktail. Yum!

What are your top three books you would recommend to other people? Again, such a tough question! The first book I thought of is The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, which blew me away and I’ve been recommending to people ever since. I read We Were Liars by E. Lockhart earlier this year and have been raving about it to a lot of people, so I guess that’s the second one. The third one would have to be The New York Trilogy by Paul Auster, which is from the eighties and probably not everybody’s cup of tea, but I’m writing my thesis about it at the moment and think it’s a true masterpiece. So if you’re into metaphysical detective stories that question reality and blow your mind, I’d say give it a go!
What’s your proudest blogging/reading/writing moment? I was really proud of myself when I reached my first blogaversary in October last year! I also ended in the top ten of a writing competition last year, which resulted in my story being published in a little book, which was so cool! I posted the story on my blog, if anyone’s interested in reading it. The aforementioned post on mental illness also made really proud, because it was quite a hard one to post since it’s so personal.
Anything else you’d like to share? Thank you, Brittany, for having me on your blog! This is such a cool feature, and I admire you for posting an edition every single week. Also, I just want to say that I really love this community, even though I don’t know all that many people (yet). I’d love to get to know more of you!

Thanks, Anne! So happy to have you on Book and a Beverage and thank you for supporting it as well! I always love sharing new faces with familiar friend and vice versa!
