Book and a Beverage [152] – Jaime from Fiction Fare

Book and a Beverage

Welcome back to BOOK AND A BEVERAGE!

In case you don’t know the deal about Book and a Beverage, it’s a very simple yet fun feature: We read books, we drink beverages, we take pictures of them and then I share your photos and a little about you to the blogging world!

Give a big welcome to Jaime from Fiction Fare!

Name & Blog Name: Jaime Arkin – Fiction Fare
Tell us a little about your blog! Fiction Fare is for the most part a book review blog.  What we read and review is kind of all over the place as my sister (co-blogger) and I both have some different interests, but you’ll definitely find books in both the Young Adult and Adult Fiction categories.   But within those categories we usually read a lot of Contemporary, Contemporary Romance, Historical, Dystopian and Sci-Fi  … so pretty much everything but westerns and biographies!
I chose the name mostly because it really worked well with that I was doing at the time in the way of writing fanfiction, but also because I wanted to use the word fare in the way it’s used to describe food (I love food)… The official definition according to google is “a range of food” i.e. “hearty fare” so… basically we offer a wide range of fiction and hopefully you’ll find something here that will feed your heart, mind and soul and maybe you’ll even come back to us for seconds and thirds!
What’s been your favorite post you’ve written so far? (Link us up!) AHH favorite posts are always hard to pinpoint. I love the interviews that we get to do with authors, but more recently we’ve started doing podcasts with authors where we get online with them and chat about anything and everything.  I think my favorite was one we did with Kristen Simmons (author of Glass Arrow, Article 5 Series and The upcoming Metaltown) – it’s hilarious and fun and we had a blast talking with her!   More recently we did one with Jeff Zentner and he’s pretty amazing you guys!
Got anything special coming up we should know about? More Podcasts! We’ll be chatting with a bunch of fun authors and sharing all the inside information on their books and writing!
ALSO each month we host a weekly YA book trivia game on Twitter with SwoonyBoys Podcast called WYAKW (Whadda YA Know Wednesday) and we send out prizes and just have a blast! It’s the third Wednesday of each month at 9pm CST!  Join us!

book

Whatcha reading? I recently finished P.S. I Like You by Kasie West for a second time because it’s just that good!
Where did it come from? (Library, purchased, publisher, etc): I got this one from the publisher, but you know I pre-ordered this as soon as I could because it’s Kasie West!
Any special reason you chose to feature this book? Kasie West is my favorite contemporary author! I love that her books handle some serious topics in a way that isn’t preachy or overwhelming.  Her books are fun, and filled with swoony guys!
What’s important that we should know about this book? Would you recommend it? This book has wonderful female relationships, a love/hate relationship with a guy, and a protagonist who doesn’t quite fit in with everyone else! I can’t recommend it enough!

beverage

Whatcha drinking? This is a Strawberry Lemon Limade Granita!  It’s my new favorite from Starbucks, if only they would sell it all day instead of only after 3pm!
What’s your favorite thing to drink while reading? Either Coffee (Non-Fat, No Whip, Cinnamon Dolce Latte) or Water… It’s really rare that you’ll see me drinking anything else, though I do indulge in some adult beverages at times.
Favorite beverage of all time. Go! I’m a Cider or Sangria girl so those are the only alcoholic beverages you’ll really see me indulging in!  If I had to pick one — Stella Artois Cidre.

bonus

What are your top three books you would recommend to other people? My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick | Jase is seriously the swooniest book boy I’ve ever read and that’s saying a lot!
Anything by Taylor Jenkins Reid | She writes amazing adult contemporary that you can’t help but love!
The Sky Is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson | No words! This book is probably my all-time favorite if I had to pick one… don’t make me pick one!
What’s your proudest blogging/reading/writing moment? I think my proudest blogging moment is probably creating an amazing following and providing content that I hope people enjoy! It’s always amazing to me that people actually care what I think about books, but when someone says “Hey, I read that book because you said you loved it!” or “Hey, can you recommend me some titles that fit XYZ?” It just makes me happy that people trust my opinion and want to know what I think!
Anything else you’d like to share?  Just to say thank you for hosting me for your feature Brittany! And thank you everyone for sharing my love for all these amazing stories!

Thanks, Jaime! I’m reading P.S. I Like You right now and I’m so excited! I just adore Kasie West. I love that you’ve already read it twice!!

I wanted to try that same granita the other day but realized before going to Starbucks that it was an after 3 thing! I got the blended strawberry lemonade instead, which really looks the same (and is delicious)! I still need to read The Fill-In Boyfriend by Kasie West and then I definitely want to check out P.S. I Like You.
