A Book and a Candle | Illuminae/Gemina + Merciful (Novelly Yours Candles)

I was chatting with my dear friend Andi from Andi’s ABCs the other day, mulling over what kind of new blog post I could possibly come up with for my blog. After blogging for five years and feeling like I’m repeating so many things and having candles take over my life with Novelly Yours (in a good way), I just don’t have as much time or energy to create some of those fun graphics and infographics that I used to love to spend hours and even days creating! Book and a Beverage really kind of died out with so many people having already done it and me having a hard time keeping track of blog posts sometimes so she suggested I switch things up to fit my life with more of what I’m doing now… and do a little switch from books & beverages to books & candles! I already post quite a bit of books & candles on my Instagram account and it seemed like the perfect way to really tie everything back together!

Here on A Book and a Candle, I share two of my favorite things! I started my own candle shop about two years ago and ever since then, my candle addiction has only grown exponentially! I share a lot of my photos on Instagram but not many really make it to my blog so this seemed like a great opportunity to talk some more about books and candles and how one enhances the other!

Today I’m sharing a recent photo my copies of ILLUMINAE and GEMINA and the Merciful candle!

Okay, okay, yes. This is my own candle. But I am SO excited to post even more about The Illuminae Files because I’ll be attending the OBSIDIO event next week Friday! I briefly met Jay Kristoff at BEA one year, just in passing (actually, while standing in line for multiple hours for my GEMINA ARC!) and I’m super excited to actually go to an event to meet Amie & Jay and hear them speak!

It’s super neat to be able to meet these authors because they’re coming all the way from Australia for a US tour! I’m so appreciative for the opportunity to meet them and have them sign these amazing novels, and I get to spend the day with some local bookish friends as well! (And some not so local — it sounds like a ton of people are coming from all over for this one!) I love that book events bring friends together and introduced me to so many new, like-minded friends!

If you haven’t read these books yet, I HIGHLY recommend it, and now you can binge read them all because OBISIDIO comes out so soon! The books are so creative, using stunning visuals for amazing effects and I’m now re-reading them as audiobooks which is almost just as fun! I definitely prefer the visual effects but the audiobooks make sure you’re getting an amazing experience too. There’s a full cast, sound effects, and even music! It’s a really great production and I love how much I’m enjoying them even more, especially GEMINA, with my re-reads.

And okay, yes, the candle is mine, from Novelly Yours! I couldn’t resist making a candle for ILLUMINAE and this candle has a special effect to go with the specialness of the books — it has a “blood” drip since these books are, well, they’re pretty bloody! I tried to pick some scents pertinent to the book and it creates and interesting, ice meets fire blend! It’s a regular in the shop so head on over if it’s calling to you!
